I like how it's a scavenger hunt to find the IRC.

Anyway, I'm still fine with play KOF or NeoGeo games without lobbies. It's slightly more a pain in the ass for me to be on IRC and PSN at the same time, since I use the same monitor for PS3 and PC. But I'd be fine with it.

EDIT: is there a good free Android IRC app?

Dude, Soul Calibur IV's character creator is a game unto itself.

I do not usually make my own character but I love that they allow you to alter the costumes and hair style of the actual cast. In certain modes, you can even have the items you equip on your characters affect their stats.
