you're saying that a Windows 8 computer will be able to play 360 games?

That is what has been rumored, yes.
Systems: Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, N64, Gamecube, Xbox 360

WTB: Boxes for a silver Gamecube System(and a hyperport cover), and a box for an Ice Blue N64 console. Will pay 7.50 for each and shipping.

IGN did an article on what they think of that rumor. It's here:

http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/121/1213573p1.html

Their verdict on the rumor was in fact, "bollocks."

People are saving Satellaview games. Today's games won't disappear.

That's not what I meant. I mean, that rumors state, a computer with Windows 8, and strong enough hardware, will play 360 games. That article suggested the idea of a new console using nothing but Windows 8.

What do you mean? That everything should have official support forever?

No no. Just that everything ends up on download sites saved forever.

I don't think everything should have official support forever. We just shouldn't end up in a position were that would be needed to keep games around.

but uh, you bought NES games right? They discontinued the NES. If yr NES games or console break, you have to buy it on the aftermarket. Or buy it in re-released form on a newer console. It's kind of not different.

But with a downloaded game there basically is no aftermarket.

I don't think a downloaded DRM'd game is going to last as long as physical game either, which is another troubling difference.
