I don't think I've seen anyone say that before.

That's heavy.
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

History. You can no longer access Xbox Live on the original Xbox. The current online networks for 360 and PS3 will be shut down when the next generation of consoles comes out.
OK, so you can't access XBL on the original Xbox. Can you play games you downloaded previously though? I feel like yr argument against DLC games is that someday the place to buy them might not exist. But if you bought the game when the digital shop was open, then you've had it all that time. And still have it as long as you have that console. How is that different from buying a physical game at a store and then the store closes? You still have yr game because you bought it before the store closed.

With how much more pervasive DLC and direct-download games have been this generation, I'd think that the business plan for the current XBL or PSN wouldn't just be to shut them down and start fresh. Live is already larger than the 360 - Windows Phone 7 talks to it, Games for Windows Live talks to it. PSN already handles multiple devices as well.

Historically, sure, there are reasons to be skeptical. However, most of the past services were much narrower in scope as well. Not to mention, of course, that the majority of 360 or PS3 titles don't need to get on the internet anyway.

that's the other thing, at least with PSN it seems to me that they don't intend for PSN to just be a "PS3 service." It's already supporting PSP and soon Vita. I feel like all yr PSN purchases today will be playable on yr PS4 tomorrow.

Rumor is that XBLA will be a client on Windows 8 like Steam. If that does happen, it means XBLA will last longer and I will give it more money. Lots more money.

I haven't paid a whole lot of attention to the scene, but I wouldn't be too worried about downloadable games for the most part. For example, everything that was available on the original xbl is still available if you know where to look, same thing with current xbla and psn games if your console is set up for that sort of thing.

If you really want to keep your systems stock then your going to have problems. But really, once the services stop supporting these consoles there won't be any reason to not hack them, at which point region coding etc. won't matter. It'll all be about games.

I'm not quite understanding people siding with the ps3. Don't get me wrong I love the ps3, but aren't they basically the exact same system in terms of retail games? There's barely any exclusives, and all the ports usually play better on the 360 if comparison websites are to be believed.
