Re: What are you listening to at the present?
so "Little Black Submarines" on the new Black Keys album sounds eerily similar to Stairway to Heaven. At first I thought they were covering some kind of early/alt lyrics demo or something....
Anyone else with the album hear this, or am I crazy?

Totally. This song is totally Zeppelin-influenced. But since Zeppelin is heavily blues influenced and so are the Black Keys, it makes sense.dsheinem wrote:so "Little Black Submarines" on the new Black Keys album sounds eerily similar to Stairway to Heaven. it seems to cross the line from being influenced to being a bit of a direct rip-off, to me. We're past homage territory. Maybe if it made reference to Zep in the lyrics or title or something...Stark wrote:Totally. This song is totally Zeppelin-influenced. ^ Isn't there a little of Mary Jane's Last Dance in there, too? And to be fair, Zep did the same thing. Stairway to Heaven is a rip-off of Spirit's Taurus. And that was just the most shameless one. But then again, it's not the 60s anymore...

Sucks that he has 2 unreleased albums that won't see the light of day. According to his website, he is releasing a autobiography next year. Will definitely be picking that up.noiseredux wrote:ever hear his early Crustified Dibbs demo?Razzmatazz wrote:Great album. 7 Years after discovering this band, and I STILL hear every song as if it's for the first time... The new album is great!
