The stick works with any Neo Geo system, and if I ever decide to switch to MVS, I can sell my US bios system and mint Garou for well over what their CMVS or a cab would cost me

Should be getting this sometime tomorrow, been in constant email contact with him. The pictures he sent me were of a boxed "gold" system and it looks huge since it has spots for both sticks. He says he only has a bowling game to go along with it, but it will be good to test it out with. I am reserving the actual details of the trade untill It has actually happened.

I wouldn't go that far.

2 sticks and an original box JPN: ~$280-300 (that would be a jpn system with an extra stick thrown in. That's with a box in decent shape)

2 sticks and an original box US (gold system): ~$325- sky's the limit. The pack-in game choices (mag lord, nam 75, baseball stars) are all relatively cheap to get if he doesn't include one.

If the US gold system box were in MINT condition with the original manual, I'd value it at slightly under $500. But if the box has ANY wear, you're in the $325 arena.

But it's only as valuable as some crazy neo fan is willing to pay for it :)
Show those numbers to the guys on the Neo Geo forums and you will get laughed at sir, prices have been going up on all AES systems and games lately due to growing interest and slim pickings

My copy of Garou MOTW was $500, and I purchased the Japanese version in an auction setting not a private sale
I said nothing about US games vs. JPN. We were talking about the systems themselves. I wholeheartedly agree that US games fetch a hell of a lot more (aside from the early commons). You can still get a US system without a box for $300.

And to Jay Red, if you're getting a complete League bowling with the system, it's more valuable than the pack-in game that originally came with it. Good find, I hope it works out!

System works great, fired up first try. Joysticks feel nice and dont have the cracking on the ball top that I have heard about. The box doesnt seem to be complete, just having one large piece of Styrofoam to hold the console and one controller, with a large void that fits the game and 2nd stick.

The game he had was League Bowling, not the greatest game to have my first Neo-Geo Experience on, but its nice to see it works fine.

Now I am sure at least a couple of you are curious as to my total cost, well I ended up trading a Modded Wii with an external harddrive, which only cost me $80 bucks total.
Pretty! Looks great! Nice that you got one without the cracked balls. Doesn't affect functionality (and it actually looks cool cracked), but always nice to have pristine stuff. :)

I had a Japanese CIB Neo Geo (the Gold system was not released in Japan). There was a styrofoam "lid" that went on top of the main styrofoam box. I imagine there would have been some sort of styrofoam divider that you are also missing. Still, nice thing you got there for sure!

You should be able to find the more common games CIB for $20-50 I would think. Unless you have lots of disposable income, I would save the expensive games for the NGCD or MVS (or ports on other consoles).

Ok so now that my initial excitement has worn off a bit, I would like to address some things about the console that dont really impress.

The first thing I noticed when opening the box and actually touching everything (my first time lol) I was immediately taken back by the build quality, everything feels so light and plasticy...Kind of like how a Sega genesis feels, kind of hollow or something. Compared to the FZ-1 3do i had for a while which very much surprised me in how nice it felt and how weighty it was.

Only ever seeing controllers on the internet, I thought these were going to feel awesome, but they are very light and cheap feeling. They feel worse than any other arcade stick I have lying around (and i have a lot). The stick feels ok, but the buttons leave something to be desired.

On the AV plugs I was surprised to see that it only had mono audio! Overall the console is pretty neat but I was expecting the quality to be a bit better overall...
