Dreamcast keyboard cleaning

I just got this Dreamcast keyboard to compliment my other one for some 2 player Typing of the Dead action, the only catch was that was, to put it lightly... dirty. I got it and knew right away that a simple wipe down was not going to cut it. So I went all out, and took the whole thing apart and gave it a nice cleaning!

The keyboard when I got it, note pic is from the member I got it from, mine is the bottom one, I have to say that this pic actually makes it look BETTER than it was when I got it!


I didnt take pics before I cleaned after taking it apart, but let me say after taking the keys off it wasnt pretty!

Keys soaking in hot water and a splash of bleach

Giving them a nice rinse, make sure to drain off all of the fat!

All clean, compared with my seganet keyboard.


The keyboard has some yellowing (was aware of this before getting it) but it looks pretty good now. I brought this keyboard back from the dead to help me kill the undead!...No? Nothing?

I've done this with many keyboards too. Those ones in my sale thread were all varying degrees of dirty when I goth them too. Looks much better now it's had a bath.

just got done with a round of Typing of the Dead with my fiance, it is really fun with 2 people! For years I have only had one keyboard so I havent been able to try out the 2 player. Too bad we didnt get a sequel for that!

There sure was. It was only released on arcade and PC. It was based on HOTD3.

Sadly I spent alot of money buying a copy for my ex girlfriend who loved Typing of the Dead. Who, after she could not figure out how to install it, gave it to some guy in her anime club. And yes, the game is exceptionally hard when you dont know the language and they are asking you questions. To my knowledge there is no translation of it in the works either.
