But let's just say it was separated into Sega, Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft, and Other... where would all the old threads go? Would some one have to go through every thread in "Sony and Microsoft" forum and organize them into the new separated forums?

If the move gets put off and takes place later it will get harder to do
Agree, it would be a nightmare for anyone to find an older post without the Search Tool and also a pain for a Mod to move the individual Threads. If the Mod staff decides to separate Sony and Microsoft, it would be easier to just make the existing category Sony and due to more PSX-PSP systems and possibly more posts?

Perhaps make a new Sub Forum for Microsoft.
It would still be a pain to move the older MS posts over to a newly created Microsoft sub forum, a Mod could just move the ones that have reference importance.

I assume for instance that big Xbox fans get tired of wading through various PSP threads that they have no interest in.
Agree completely. Yes this is a Retro Forum, but the biggest three threads are Nintendo, Microsoft and Sony.

I'm a fan of both MS and Sony, but yes, it would be much easier to find stuff if they were separate. Also, how about giving Gameboy and DS their own subforum instead of lumping them in with GameGear, Lynx, and NGPC?

Technically, the Nintendo portable stuff is supposed to go in the "Other Platforms" category, even if people often put them in the Nintendo forum as well. A lot of overlap.

"technically" screw that. I'm putting Nintendo talk in the Nintendo forum, pal.

Separating MS and Sony will possibly lead to more duplicated discussions for multiplatform games. That section is so busy that it needs to be split IMHO. The oldest thread still on the first page of topics is from the 18th. Considering that we just had a holiday weekend where people had more time that usual to discuss things, it isn't like there's a flood going on in there. Also, I only see 2 PSP topics in that first page of stuff. I don't think I need wellibobs, much less waders to get to the other non PSP topics.

some thing came to mind.

We have that retrogame store directory. How about we put that on a google map program? have a direct link to google maps and their programs so that we can see where it is conveniently on one map with the points and all.

All the stores across the country in one pic.

Stores can be marked with a Green for current and open.

RED for no longer open (used to be one there) or Currently closed.

Yellow for questionable or unknown if open or not.

There's 33 pages and it may be easier to find it directly on the map. I think it would make a nice app for the traveling gamer on your smartphone?

Anyone wanting to post pics wider the 725, please put it in a Spoiler Tag, makes for an easier read of your post. 8)

I recant my earlier statement on the Spoiler Tag. It does have a great use, for posting LARGE pics! Take a look at my text in this Thread, note how it does not have to be scrolled sideways to read until the Spoiler Tag is clicked. After opening the large pic in the Spoiler, try to read this while dragging the scroll bar bouncing back and forth like a Ping Pong game.

:? Stretch the text above, click the Spoiler Tag:

:D Or just keep the pic under 725 wide to prevent the scroll:

Could we have a thread that is updated whenever a change is made to the forums? Kind of like a way to announce bug fixes/features to the user base?

For instance, today dsheinem reported that View Active Topics is busted and then fastbilly announced that the forum software was updated.

It would be nice to announce to the group that something has changed and if there are any issues, to report them instead of us finding them on our own.

So fastbilly updated the forum software. What exactly was changed? Was a new version of phBBB installed? Some theme template was changed? etc.
