Straight-forward N64 commission - GoldenEye

Post by bacteria »

This was a commission from Rrt from my forum, he wanted an N64 console in a reduced sized case, and only able to play GoldenEye; and the casing to have GoldenEye / 007 decals.

Here's the video:

Honestly, I would've gone with Perfect Dark, but that is still an impressive mod. Great work!

It's the game he wanted, and he was paying! Only charged £210 for this commission, about half the work compared to making a portable, so charged half usual rate.

I like it, I wish I had one back in the day. Two questions:
1. Would it be possible to make one that has two games in it with a switch to go between games?
2. Why do you have two clocks in front of the TV, with one a minute faster than the other?

1) You would have to use switches to separate the connections between the two games. I think out of the 48 pins, GoldenEye used something like about 25-30 connections only. Frankly, if you want more than one game use a normal cart slot.

2) One of the clocks is about 10 seconds off the other one! One of the clocks is old and works almost always, the other one is a quieter alarm; so yeah, a bit strange, but I have two electronic alarm clocks; and a manual one too (paranoia)!

It would still be a cool feature. A BK/BT N64 would be awesome.

That is what I imagined. I will stick with my carts, but my older brother wants an N64 for two games, Mario Kart 64 and Goldeneye. He will never play another game on the console ever. Since he has alot of people traveling through his office with sticky fingers, a console without carts is a great concept. Thank you so much for the idea, it will be for Christmas next year. However, I will probably just keep it in the standard box.

Fair enough, that is what I imagined but want to know if there was something crazier going on. I usually set two alarms every evening - one cellphone and one clock.
