Re: "Virtua Tennis – 10 Years Gone" anniversary documentary
Wow, thanks for the vid!
I am not a Tennis or sports game fan, but a huge Sega fan.
VT1 and VT2 are the pinnacle of sports games.
I used to play long 4PLAYER late night sessions with non-gamer or casual gamer friends on the DC. It´s so easy to pick, to master it is another thing. Then I had a naomi cab with VT1.
Then I tracked down a copy of Power Smash 2 for the Japanese ps2 to play on my Japanese PS3. Played that with 4PLAYER late night sessions with non-gamer or casual gamer friends
Then I got vt3 and now we don´t play anything at all. VT3 crushed my awesome 4 player gaming sessions! VT3 is just wrong, looks wrong, plays wrong and is not fun at all, not even if you win and beat somebody. It´s just not fun at all. We tried to get into it. But while playing it, you just feel like you´re wasting your valuable time.
I´ve never played anything after VT3
They should just do a cold Turkey remake of VT1 and VT2.
Or like a VT HD remake, where at the beginning of the game you can select either the VT1 or the VT2 system!
I´m downloading the 720p vid right now to play on tv and watch it as documentary. it´s gonna be great!

What is this Sega/Sonic Tennis title you're referring to Noise?
Fwiw - I loved the mini games in the first Virtua Tennis. I played that game so often, the one A button my dreamcast controller is still pressed in (doesn't release like the others).

^ Nice - may have to pick that up.
Virtua Tennis 4 is less than $20 new nowadays as well. That's a good stocking stuffer, plus it motivates me to finally set up my PS Move

VT4 is on my Steam Wishlist. VT1 and 2 on the Dreamcast were alot of fun, though they are my second favorite Tennis games, first being Mario Tennis. We did not have as many late nights playing VT as we did Powerstone, but VT is always a welcome title at my house.
Once my VS tent gets its second encoder, it will run Virtua Tennis in 4 player - sadly I think VT4 is 4 button and not 2 button like previous titles which means I will have to run an older version.

Thanks all!
Regarding which to buy, VT3, 2009 or VT4, go for VT4. No question. It was made by the original team, has a unique new world tour mode, better character builder and just feels better.
As for SEGA Superstars Tennis, it's a must buy at the current price. Lots of fan service, even including classic AM2 game stages as courts (OutRun and After Burner are awesome locals). Lots of great music too! Only downsides: small roster compared to All-Stars Racing and occasionally cheap AI. But stil loads of fun! I might just play it tonight!

AWESOME. I might have to get Sega Superstars Tennis if just to have Ulala pull a Michael Jackson and start dancing with zombies.Nintendork666 wrote:Dude, there's a Curien Mansion court...

The Wii version is STILL in constant rotation at my house. Great cast of characters and court variety; and fun missions/mini-games that allow you to unlock tons of extras. I can't think of another tennis title I like or play more - motion controls are also a definite plus.
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.
