Need a av receiver for all my consoles
Does any one know a good av receiver or switch box that has a lot of different inputs so that I can hook up all of my retro consoles at once?
The consoles that I currently have are:
Atari 2600
Atari 5200
Atari 7800
Atari jaguar/jaguar cd
NES
SNES
N64
Game Cube
SMS
Genesis/cd/32x
Saturn
Dreamcast
Ps 1
Ps2
And a DVD player
With more coming soon!
Basically I want to know how you guys have multiple consoles like this hooked up to one tv with out losing video quality. I noticed that once you hook several rf switches together the video quality suffers. I've been to radio shack and best buy and cant seem to find anything that will work. Any help would be very appreciated. That goal is to own all retro consoles from the 2600 to the ps2 hooked up to one tv.

Welcome to Racketboy! A nice collection, you can add your systems to your signature link if you want to.
You will need multiple switch boxes in conjunction of the various types of inputs in your TV.
Check my CRT vs LCD link at my signature for the best inputs for each console.

Fifteen consoles to one TV? That's no small task. Be prepared to daisy-chain if you won't consider two or more TV sets.
I use the Pelican System Selector Pro. It allows me to connect eight components to one TV. So far I'm happy with it. It's very much plug-and-play. It couldn't be simpler to use.

I just ebay'ed a Joytech 240C. This one allows six inputs and has some interesting features. I'll let you know how it works when it finally gets delivered.

Re: Need a av receiver for all my consoles
The only ones you should be stuck with RF is the older Atari consoles, though those can be modded for better connections. I have my 2600 modded for composite and s-video. A few switchboxes to filter you down to the available inputs on the receiver should sort your out.

Thanks for the replies, that pelican box would be a good option, perhaps two or so
Re: Need a av receiver for all my consoles
No PC Engine, Neo Geo or 3DO? For shame, for shame... especially with no PC Engine.
Personally, I prefer having consoles displayed and not hooked up. Just keep all your cords neatly organized and accessible, and hook up as needed. Keeps things clean that way.
If you insist on having everything hooked up at the same time, you are for sure going to have to daisy chain a bit (as has been said).

Big space saver for plugs is to put your SNES, GameCube and N64 together and share the same cables.
You can also do that with model 1 SMS and Genesis.

Re: Need a av receiver for all my consoles
I have them all hooked up right now using several switch boxes. This is not ideal. So I will probably use two of those pelican boxes hopefully that will be enough.
I will get some neo geo, pc engine, odyssey, and etc. As the funds come available, eventually hope to own all consoles and all variations.
Again thanks for all the imput!

Re: Need a av receiver for all my consoles
I have 8 consoles hooked up in my game room, 5 of them are on a s-video only Hori switch I got from someone in japan, the others are hooked up to a pelican 4 port composite/s-video box. they are just plugged into different inputs on my TV. I dont have anything that connects with RF, my TV actually had the RF part broken off in moving, it was actually a blessing in disguise since that forces me to hook everything up the best way possible.
