I never got to play the original NHL Hockey. However, I've played NHL '95 a lot.
They're pretty fun games.

nice. I was always a huge fan of NHL 94. Had it on Genesis and then on SCD. Even now I keep NHL 06 on PS2 since it has 94 as a bonus game.

^ Nice

I think at one time I had played through a Cup run with every team in NHL '94 (except for the expansion teams since team's strengths in those games were more defined by how fast they skated). I played a lot of '93 also but the big leap was '94 with one-timers and then in '95 with a full regular season mode.

The original game plays really well though still and the European EA Hockey title was a real pleasant surprise (which I did emulate - everything else I write about I have the physical copy). I'm trying to confirm if the PAL cart will work on my genesis if i use a game genie. I'd like to pick it up.

Are there any sports games with a Christmas theme that you could review for the holidays?

^ I can't think of any holiday themed. I put it out on Twitter and spacebooger mentioned Elf Bowling - which is an old PC game. I could only come up with winter themed stuff - like olympic games, ice hockey, etc.

Good thought though - keep the suggestions and ideas coming.

The only thing I can think of is SkiFree.
The Christmas-themed sports games... on that I've drawn a blank.

What is the worst port of this game? Is it the NES?

I had this for the Apple II and the Commodore 64. It is widely panned as one of the worst NES games ever.

I think there is potential in questioning why they continue to make Olympic games. I have to look up sales figures and see if my hypothesis has any teeth.

All of those old Epyx games were pretty weak, in my opinion. Winter Games actually isn't too bad on C64, the joystick control is functional for the ski jumps and whatnot. It's horrific on the NES.
