Wasn't it cool when games had a ton of ports/variations?

Anything that is gaming related that doesn't fit well anywhere else

So let's talk about Street Fighter II or Pac-man ports...

Super Street Fighter 2 > all the others. The Turbo HD Remix had an inferior soundtrack (with a couple gems) and gameplay that was way too fast.

Is that a 3DS XL in your pocket, or are you just glad to see me? ~ZeroAX

Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo > Super Street Fighter 2

It's kind of like with the Megaman Gameboy games. They took established elements and assets from the console and made a series of games that took advantage of the gameboy hardware and found their own relevance. To this day, I actually feel that Megaman V for the GB is probably the best 8-bit Megaman, even more so Megaman 2 or 3 for the NES.

How often does that kind of thing happen nowadays?
Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

my parents divorced when I was very young. I had different consoles at each of my parents house. But my GB could come with me. So often I played GB games because it was my companion. Sure I could play the original DKC back then. But only half the time.

Agreed with the Megaman part, but DKC was a carbon copy of the SNES game but with 8-Bit graphics and sound. DKL is like the MMGB games, they were based on the originals and had similar level themes and bosses (MM5 and its Stardroids aside), but the level layouts were unique.

So there was nothing at all redeeming about DKC for the gameboy? I always thought it was similar to DKL; a re-imagining of sorts.

I like DKC on GBC. I thought it looked fantastic considering the hardware.

I'm not a fan of lots of ports because it takes away from the unique experience one system can offer compared to another
