I'll preorder mine when I go to pick up my copy of Mario Kart 7. As an RPG fanatic, this is a game I can't afford to pass up. Not just for its reported quality, but for all the effort that went into petitioning for its release.

And all of Operation Rainfall are happy

Hey, I know what it's like to be frustrated over a localization. If Tales of Graces F hadn't gotten announced for localization a few months prior, I'm sure that Tales of Graces would have made it into Operation Rainfall's roster, too, don't you think?swiftzx wrote:lisalover1 wrote:I'll preorder mine when I go to pick up my copy of Mario Kart 7. Re: Xenoblade is officially coming to US, please PREORDER NOW
so for all of you who have imported it, is the game all it's purported to be? Some are suggesting it is the best JRPG of this gen...but on the other hand there's not much in the way of competition. Is it good, and if so why? Try to convince someone who is overly picky about JRPGs that this is worth playing...

The game is the best JRPG of this AND the previous gen. I haven't beaten it yet (takes some time), so I can't fully comment on the story. What I can say is that the story remains interesting, it's given at regular intervals, the cut scenes don't usually get way too big (nowhere near what I've heard about Xenogear). The game's world is gigantic and GORGEOUS. Seriously, the game's art is AMAZING. FUCK FF13, this game is prettier without having to wear something slutty, like HD textures.dsheinem wrote:so for all of you who have imported it, is the game all it's purported to be? The world is almost the size of a small MMO I'd argue. There is tons to do in terms of side quests, from quests to get better items and XP, to more character development.
The battle system is amazing. Each player is a different class, and they play differently (though you'll most likely end up using Shulk for most of your game), and because you have to move around, combine attacks, expose weaknesses, the game never feels static (press X to Attack, press X to Attack......), on the contrary it's quite exciting. Specially when you add the special attacks to the mix.
The game simply is what JRPGs SHOULD be like in this day and age. Take the good things the west has brought to the table, and incorporate them into the games. A more open, explorable world, characters who play differently (as well as look differently which was always the case with JRPGs), and more stuff to keep you from following the main storyline (which JRPGs seem to not have time for, in the PS2 and PS3 era).
BTW guys, I really don't think it was operation rainfall which helped get the game there. Sales in Europe seem to have been better than expected. The game is sold out in all major retailers I've been to in Athens (and FFS we have a motherfucking crisis here), and the price in online European retailers, hasn't fallen one bit, even though the game has been out for 3 months, so I'm guessing it is still selling well. (Ok NOT CoD numbers, but for what they expected, it probably did great)

Seconded. Also, is it really as long as people say? That's my greatest hesitation. I'm playing Tactics Ogre: LUCT right now and I feel like it's never going to end. It's super fun, but almost absurdly long. It's been my primary game for 4 months. Maybe 60 hours in.dsheinem wrote:so for all of you who have imported it, is the game all it's purported to be?
