Is anyone else finding themselves using shields very sparingly? As in, 95% of the time, unless I'm fighting a deku shrub or lizardman (whatever they're called) I pretty much don't have my shield out.

I found myself using them more on some later enemies, but they're not really compulsory. They tend to give you an advantage (through parrying) rather than actually being a necessity.

Is the breaking tedious? Sounds like one of my friends was saying that about the shields.

I never had a sheild break once. It's pretty easy to not use your shield when its low on damage. Upgrading shields gives them more endurance too, and later shields are practically unbreakable.

Every once in a while, work doesn't suck. I got a gift card from my boss, so I went and picked this up. Time to set up the Wii again. I'm hoping the Wii is fine on an LCD even though it's not an HD console. I've never actually hooked it up to a tv that's not an old CRT.

Not much I'm excited for this holiday. Skyrim sounds like too bloated a game and I didn't like Oblivsion, so hopefully I'll have fun with Skyward Sword

Assuming it isn't a shit game, the Wii can look amazing on an HDTV. Composite or component cables, but obviously the later looks a little better. I guess it depends on the TV a little. But games like Mario Galaxy, Kirby's Return to Dreamland, Mario Kart, have all looked beautiful for me.

So you haven't been playing your Wii games in widescreen? :(

Use a component cable, and then go into your Wii System settings and set it to widescreen and enable progressive scan. It actually looks pretty good on a HDTV.

Well, I'd assumed the Wii wasn't aimed at the HD crowd, so it never even crossed my mind to use it on an HD tv with widescreen. I always just had it hooked up to a CRT television, while my PS 3 and Xbox 360 were hooked up to the HD flatscreen tv.

I just moved though, and it's tough to find a spot to put that old CRT other than a closet or garage, where it will basically be useless. So the Wii may be sharing the same tv as my PS 3 and 360

This.

I remember blown away but how good Super Mario Galaxy looked in 480p on this tv. Seriously, other than some jaggies for obvious reasons, it holds its own next to many ps3 titles I have.
