Re: Game room compromise with my wife
yeah storage is nice. I've actually resorted to this just because I'm sick of clutter. I always have my PS3 set up, and keep my GCN, moddedPS2, Sega CD and Dreamcast in storage that I can easily swap in when I need to.
Re: Game room compromise with my wife
Have you considered keeping most of your consoles in storage and only hooking up one or two? You could rotate them monthly, this way you could focus on "discovering" each console's library by itself, and plus it would keep things fresh for you as well as appease your wife.[/quote]eskil wrote:
That's a good idea too. I'm mostly working on building my library one system at a time anyway.

Re: Game room compromise with my wife
That's what I started doing a year or so ago. Ultimately what it's led to is me developing a better understanding of what I like. So now I'm working on getting rid of some consoles and games, and focusing on only collecting for a few systems.eskil wrote:Have you considered keeping most of your consoles in storage and only hooking up one or two? My only idea that I didn't see mentioned is to either get a modded xbox or a htpc and use that to for emulation (if you aren't against that sort of thing) and for all the normal htpc stuff.
Re: Game room compromise with my wife
I guess the reason it wasn't mentioned is because many people on these boards have rather strong feelings about emulation. I don't mind it, but I can definitely relate to people who enjoy having physical copies of games and playing on original hardware.t0yrobo wrote:My only idea that I didn't see mentioned is to either get a modded xbox or a htpc and use that to for emulation (if you aren't against that sort of thing) and for all the normal htpc stuff.
That being said, I see no reason not to use backwards compatibility to your advantage. Even though the interface is in the way, I quite enjoy using my Wii for Gamecube games because it means one less console cluttering up my TV space. Same goes for PS1/2 and to some extent the Xboxes…
Re: Game room compromise with my wife
Yeah I'm focusing on one console right now and I'm enjoying the collection I'm building more than when I was just buying whatever I could get.t0yrobo wrote:

I'm not really against emulation but as silly as this sounds I just play more on original hardware. I get a feeling like I should enjoy it while it still exists in that form so I'm less apt to put a game down.

Re: Game room compromise with my wife
I'm right with you on that, I rarely finish a game unless I have the real deal. I really like my modded xbox for the convenience of having 6 consoles in one machine, but I still pull out whatever console if I'm going to spend more time on a game. No matter how good the emulation is xbox controllers are far from ideal for older games.nikon_62 wrote:Yeah I'm focusing on one console right now and I'm enjoying the collection I'm building more than when I was just buying whatever I could get.t0yrobo wrote:
