Are Gas Prices Hitting You Hard?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

I think electric is the way to go as we already have some cars in development for it, charging technology is getting better/faster and you can generate electricity many different ways (it would also help if people wouldn't throw such a fit about nuclear plants)
Actually you would be surprised how far it has come...there is a twin turbo v8 making 600+ power...and it runs off a battery... :D
Yep, I know im the one ya love to hate.

f'in subaru and their required 93 octane of better required

it doesn't help that my wrx gets like 14mpg

i'm glad i never finished restoring my other car and i intended on being a daily driver, as that thing required 93 octane and got 8 mpg
Well what boost is your wrx at? if you wanted to save money on fuel and lose performance...could get smaller fuel injecter and have the engine retuned...i know the sr20 i have runs at 8psi...so to save a little you could go say...6? wouldnt be fun to do to save a couple bucks though. I feel you on the 93 octane crap to hehe

You're talking about the Tesla, right?
Have you seen Jay Leno's impressions? He actually gives a pretty good review:

That's cool. Although I am rather disgusted with the giant SUV phenom, gearheads like yourself don't bother me, for whatever reason. I guess because what you are doing is more of a hobby (?) and less of a contributing factor overall, than the SUV thing.

As for things changing... you will probably be surprised. No, I won't quit my job because I don't want to pay the fuel price, but my place of work may go out of business as a result of the economic effect of the shortage. Like you said in your statement about clothes, books, games, food and everything else we consume: our ENTIRE socioeconomic system is built on Oil. Im not an economist, but if you ask one, they wil tell you that oil rates have already had a significant effect on the reduction of growth of our currently vulnerable economy.

Im not bitching about what I have to pay for fuel. I don't buy much so its not a matter of affordability. I just don't want to have to move.

I don't think you are a moron for driving a fast car, so I'm sorry I came off that way. Judging by your avatar, or even the fact that you are in this forum... you are no moron.

I gotta say though, I tossed a one-handed Hadouken toward VA when I read you fill every 3 days. :o :o :o

True, so true. My Talon is the same way. 24 or so overall until you get a lead foot.

I'm glad they're going back to the development of the electric car. Personally I think it's a shame they went out of production before 1930 rolled around, but hey, everybody wanted a Model T.

Whatever route we take, we should have gotten on it 30-40 years ago.

Yeah, nuclear very safe, yet very stigmatized.

Unfortunately, it's almost entirely killed the industry in America. Nuclear engineering is considered a dying profession on college campuses, and has been for several decades now. In fact, as an undergrad I remember being specifically steered away from it. I guess people hear the term "nuclear" and automatically think of the weapon. It's a relatively cheap and very reliable power source if it is properly maintained.

Of course, I'd love to see more research into fission and fusion, but that's years down the road.
