Hmm, looking at the chart again, I think you might be right.

So is the per shipment rate the minimum charge? And the per-item is for each additional item?

I just got Prime this past January... I used to always use Free Super Saver shipping which would end up costing me more money because I'd try and buy at least $25 worth of stuff each time I wanted something. Now if there is a $5 Blu-ray I can just buy it instantly and I get it in 2 days. I'm great pals with the UPS guy now. I buy almost everything from Amazon now. I have not used the video service yet... for the same reason I canceled my Netflix streaming service when they split DVD/Streaming prices... I hate not having captions/forced Dubs and no special features. I don't own a Kindle so I can't use the ebook rental service. I'm happily continuing my Prime subscription coming up this January.

You can get the kindle app if you have an iPad or some other tablet. Ditto for the laptop although I admit that a tablet would be better for reading.

Ah, you're right. I had misread their chart. The per shipment cost is fixed, and the per item cost is added on top of that. That does make AP economical in a lot more cases.

I use Amazon, but only for new stuff. If I buy anything used I get it off ebay because of pictures, etc. Amazon they will just list a game or cd and say "good condition." Well that doesn't tell me how many scratches are on the disc, if the manual in crinkled, etc.
They have escaped into the mansion where they thought it was safe, yet.

I think Amazon prime is great. I definitely get my money's worth. For textbooks and books where the condition doesn't really matter "Fulfilled by Amazon" used can be great. Anything used from Amazon Warehouse Deals is going to be in much better condition than they describe it as. Not having the 25 USD benchmark is nice. The 3.99 per item one day shipping has saved my ass a couple times, like when I NEEDED some medical supplies for my bunnies right away that I couldn't get anywhere locally.

The subscribe and save option is GREAT. You can cancel it right away if you want and you get free shipping.

Uggh, I was wrong about this. I tried to get one of library ebooks and it seems that you can only do it if you have an actual kindle. The Kindle app on the Ipad does not qualify.
