Quick question about Shienryu (SAT) vs The Shooting (PS2)

Post by brunoafh »

I'm set on getting a copy of Shienryu soon because that game is badass. I was looking into it and noticed there's a PS2 port that comes with another Shienryu game too. What is this other game exactly? The PS2 port is much cheaper, how does it perform in comparison to the Saturn one? Ultimately, I'm wondering if there's any reason I should get the Saturn version over the PS2 one.

Thanks for any replies.

I´d get the ps2 version because it also has tate and a 240p tate option. The other game is pretty cool as well. Nothing wrong with it. Very easy which is a nice change of shmups I can´t 1cc. go to shmups forum and search for shienryu and read all of the threads!

Fuck it, I fucked up. Get the Saturn version, because the original arcade game runs on ST-V which is Saturn hardware, so that is the definite version you want! I like it as well. There´s something about this game, I just can´t put my hands on it!
This is just a very strong and typical shooter.

Is the performance difference noticeable? Getting the PS2 version would be much cheaper, plus you get another game. I'm not too much of a stickler about performance so long as it's not like a huge difference (like PSX vs Saturn DonPachi games).

The ps2 can handle a st-v game just fine, gives you true low rez, and can output in component, plus comes with a bonus game, and is cheaper.

I'm looking at buying a copy soon as well, and its ps2 hands down for me.

Yeah I think I'm going with the PS2 one for sure. Relatively inexpensive. The only thing I was worried about was performance issues or it being a bad port.

Aside Triggerheart, Strikers, and Gunbird, I think the ps2 ports are all equal or better than the ports for other consoles. Of course, the DC can output vga, so some prefer it.

Its sad, the psx Dodonpachi looks and sounds better, but is broken as far as scoring goes.

I do need to upgrade my Donpachi to a psx copy though
