In "Options" "Set Config" "Extras" you can tell fusion to save as a BMP. Probably want the output stage set to final too.retrosportsgamer wrote:So, how do you guys get a Truevision TGA Image into a jpeg? The TGA is the format the Fusion saves to and that doesn't work with MS Paint.

Re: Genesis Emulator Suggestion
So Fusion has been awesome - thanks again. I have SEGA covered for retro systems for screenshots.
How about SNES and potentially game boy emulation? I'm most concerned with just getting crisp jpeg or bitmap screenshots for articles.

bsnes is the only way to go for SNES stuff, unless your computer just has trouble running it.
I've actually always liked bgb for game boy stuff. Colors seem a lot more accurate than most emulators i've tried.

Visual Boy Advance is a good emulator for Gameboy, GB Color and GBA. It's worked well for me, though I haven't used it a whole lot.
Re: Genesis Emulator Suggestion
I'll second it. It's the only one I've used, but it never has given me a problem.Ziggy587 wrote:Visual Boy Advance is a good emulator for Gameboy, GB Color and GBA. It's worked well for me, though I haven't used it a whole lot.

Re: Genesis Emulator Suggestion
bsnes is really good if you are a purist. It emulates strictly based on hardware and not reverse engineering hardware callbacks (ie running what the ROM is asking for).
ZSNES has an awkward interface, but does have the ability to snap pictures (PCX/TGA/BMP).
Snes9X isn't that great as far as compatibility goes, but it has an awesome interface and graphics rendering - which can mean for smooth screens if they're resampled at a smaller size.
Gameboy emulation is a no brainer. Find one that you like.
Fusion is the de facto Genesis Emulator with Gens in a close second. I prefer the fork of Gens called 'Gens 32 Surreal'. It doesn't have sound options that sound real, but they have a feathered effect and sound better than the real thing (IMO). There is also a rendering option that allows for awesome pictures, again if resampled to a smaller size.
I recommend an external image capture utility. I use Gadwin PrintScreen, which among other things is free.

Re: Genesis Emulator Suggestion
BSNES can emulate GB games which is convenient. Also, the 32-bit version (dubbed "compatibility profile") offers better performance. I haven't noticed a difference in accuracy with the 32-bit version.AppleQueso wrote:bsnes is the only way to go for SNES stuff, unless your computer just has trouble running it.
