Dungeon Defenders

Post by fastbilly1 »

Who else has played this super addictive tower defense ARPG? According to my steam friendslist, apparently only SpaceBooger wants it (it is one of the few games I have that JT doesnt).

The premise is simple. You have a Crystal that baddies want to destroy, they come at you in waves from specific points on the map. Your character can collect money to create defensive barriers, towers, and traps. But when the bad guys you get to jump into the fray and attack the enemies yourself. Over time the monsters you kill give you experience which causes you to level and, well you get the drift.

I will admit that I am not a big fan of the tower defense genre, mostly because I am terrible at them. The only other tower defense that I was any good at was Toy Soldiers - which also allowed you to control the action. But since this is part ARPG it is simply addictive.

Here is some gameplay:

It is also on Android, iOS, XBLA, and PSN - soon all but the XBLA versions will have cross platform play.

I have this.I just came on here to see if we had a thread about it!Ive played a bit of online but after hitting lvl 11 and not getting the lvl 10 achievement, I learned you can only earn achievements in ranked play lists. So no bother il start again.

I am really enjoying it in a group but as solo i find it a bit daunting and not as much fun.Im also a bit lost with all the pickups, armours etc.I get a load during a match but get lost of whats what.

I bought a pet also but he dosent appear anywhere?Maybe i have to be a certain level? And i must find out about pick up you get with a padlock symbol on.Most of the time i just want to sell the items.I like the addition of the tf2 cast and the portal gun but im not a higher enough rank as of yet.

So many questions so so much wiki browsing ahead.

I will be playing later and sticking to ranked games as i love me some achievements.I must resist the urge to buy the dlc as ive not seen all the original content has to offer.

I bought it for PS3 a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. I mainly got it to have another 4 player local multiplayer game for when I have friends up.

It should be in your inventory but you have to equip pets just like armor before it shows up in battle.

So the PSN version if 4 player local? I hope the 360 version is aswell.

I screwed up the same way RetroGam3r. I got to level 27 in unranked matches so I did not get any achievements, but that can be fixed later. My friend I play with the most plays an Apprentice with all points in tower damage and range, while I play a Huntress with everything in damage. The first two rounds I take care of most of the mobs, but on the last few he does almost everything. Lighting turrets are awesome, but so is 2 shotting air enemies.

When we swap over to real matches I will probably play a Squire just so I can be useful at all times.

Yeah, it is has the option for up to 4player splitscreen on PS3. It looks like the 360 version does as well: http://www.co-optimus.com/game/1773/xbo ... nders.html

Thanks Bmoc, buying it on the 360 aswell. Its that kind of game that can just suck away a few hours of pure fun. And sadly, if I have it on the 360 I can get more of my friends to play it. They would rather play the 360 version of a title than play it on a pc (even with a 360 controller).

Ah right cool so i just need to equip my pet.Makes sense now.I take it theres a slot for it?
Im playing this on pc with my ps3 pad and it works really well.

I have tried all character classes but havent decided on my "main" character as of yet.I find if im not the squire then i tend to miss out on kills etc as im so low level.

If anyone wants to add me my steam name is the same as on here.Im uk so time may be an issue?

Yup there is a slot just for the pet. I think it is the bottom left most armor slot if I recall correctly.
