Let's have a western animation thread

Took them long enough! I don't even remember how many seasons they went on, I remember seeing the movie first and then watched the series.
Excellent news!

Are you guys aware of the comics he wrote for the series? They're pretty much a canon continuation of the cartoon(and I think they skip that crappy final season from the show). I never got around to reading them all. I think they've been collected into a trade paperback

I didn't know they made comics, it's a good series to. When I was young I couldn't grasp onto it because the tone was too serious but the characters are interesting indeed. Goliath for the win.

Rocko's Modern Life Season 2 and Angry Beavers Season 3 (part 1) are coming! Not very surprised that they're gonna do half-seasons for Angry Beavers now; I don't get the impression the seasons 1 & 2 set sold all that well. Anyway, great news for me!

I loved both Heavy Metal movies, but all I can find that are "suggested to me" by places like Amazon and NetFlix are either kiddie-fare or anime. I want to see some good, adult (or at least a good story), western fantasy animation. So what are some of the good ones out there that are similar to Heavy Metal?

Wizards comes to mind. I haven't seen it in a long, looooooong time so I don't know how much it meets your requirements.

There's also Light Years, or as it's sometimes called "Gandahar."

Oh, there's also Aeon Flux I suppose. Not a movie, but I think it fits.

The popularity of Anime in the US really should've opened the gates for more serious adult oriented western animation. It's a damn shame it didn't.

There is a hilarious South Park that parodies Heavy Metal, and very well at that. It's titled Major Boobage, and I would suggest you check it out for some laughs.
