So do you actually like the game and are just ranting about minor nitpicks or do these things really bug you that much?
It's just kinda hard to tell.
Skyward Sword, thoughts so far?
Re: Skyward Sword, thoughts so far?
Does it matter? Liking the game and hating the extreme level of handholding are not exclusive.
Anyone else notice that when you are diving toward land, it prompts you to press B to use your sailcloth, but if you don't, it just does it for you? Why even have the option to press B?
I am enjoying the game, despite often being treated like a mildly retarded ten-year-old. I seriously think they focus tested this game with young children. So it seems odd when you have the demon lord licking his lips over your shoulder and talking about murdering you.
Speaking of that, I like how the demon lord says "you only live because of that sword". Meanwhile, he actually had my sword in his hands several times and decided to throw it back at me instead of, you know, keeping it and killing me.

I haven't seen this behavior. If I don't press B, I crash to the ground and "die".Zing wrote: Anyone else notice that when you are diving toward land, it prompts you to press B to use your sailcloth, but if you don't, it just does it for you? Why even have the option to press B?![]()

Hmm, maybe I would have to test this again. Jumping off cliffs allow me to fall, but when I jumped from my bird, it auto-deployed the sail at the last second.gtmtnbiker wrote:I haven't seen this behavior. I also sometimes have my analog stick get "stuck" in a certain direction. It always seems to happen during a fight when I am swinging my sword around. I have to unplug and replug the nunchuck to get it to calibrate again.
I find it hilarious that Link can sleep in a house at random. I wake up at night and there are people in the house acting like its normal.

Would you wake up a heavily armed and potential dangerous man dressed in silly green clothes if he were sleeping in your house?Zing wrote:I find it hilarious that Link can sleep in a house at random. I wake up at night and there are people in the house acting like its normal.

I don't really notice this handholding all that much, or at least what I have ran into doesn't bug me.
I find that even with the handholding, so far the game doesn't really feel like it's easier than the last two 3D Zeldas. Maybe the easy puzzles are offset by the fact that enemies actually put up quite a fight now, which I really, really like.

Yeah, sailcloth behavior is dumb. This happens every time I land in Skyloft.Zing wrote:Anyone else notice that when you are diving toward land, it prompts you to press B to use your sailcloth, but if you don't, it just does it for you? Why even have the option to press B?![]()
Re: Skyward Sword, thoughts so far?
I agree with the sailcloth and inventory issue. If you land in Skyloft or on the surface, it auto-deploys. And I hate having to go to my item screen everytime I pick up treasure after starting a new session of the game. That right ther is truly stupid.

Even with Fi's annoying and pretty obvious statements from time to time the game leaves you to do the puzzles and leg work all on your own. If I get stuck on an actual puzzle or fights she is no help at all, I've checked to see what she would say several times.
The Sailcloth only deploy's automatically when landing into a newly loaded area such as Skyloft, or the surface. If you jump off your bird onto an island it will not deploy without pressing B and you will smack on the ground face down. If you dive off a cliff during regular gameplay Link will just land on his feet or face and lose health if you fail to press B.
Oh and you guys realize that this is not the first Zelda game that will re-explain treasure when you reload a game right?

I loved the look on the Landlords face when you smash his chandelier, that was so funny
