I think it's so overhyped you just end up expecting to be blown out of your mind, when in reality it was just the best for its time yet it was improved upon by the sequels. I have the same problem with FF7.

Link to the Past = #1
Link's Awakening = #2
Ocarina of Time = seriously overrated
Wind Waker = most overrated underrated game

By most overrated underrated Zelda title, I mean that it got lower reviews (and a very split reaction, some hating it, some loving it) undeservedly, but that as far as underrated games go, it's one of the more overrated ones.

OoT is my least favorite Zelda. So you're in good company. :P

as far as other 3D titles go, Wind Waker is probably my 2nd favorite Zelda game right after LttP.

Do you like OoT at the least though? I'd agree the overall fanbase of OoT is one of the worst out there next to the likes of FF7, but I'd say it's kind of baffling some classic Zelda fans don't like OoT. To me it by far plays more like the older games than any of the newer ones. The game was like 80% a dungeon crawler and just pure exploration on your own just like the old games before it, with limited "fetch quests" which completely riddled the games that followed (something I hated about Wind Waker as well). I mean, MM sums it up by only having 4 main dungeons, when OoT had nearly 10-11 if we want to count the well, ice cavern, and Ganon's Tower. The largest number of dungeons in a Zelda game next to LTTP and that's a big reason why I love it.

LTTP is my favorite, but OoT is my favorite of the 3D ones and that kind of sums up why. Less story and more atmosphere / dungeon crawling.
