Melvins and Boris are awesome.

Sure they're metal. Sludge and stoner/doom/drone are definitely metal.

I wouldn't ask me for recs though since those particular subgenres aren't really my area of expertise. Closest thing to those bands I can even think off the top of my head of are other stoner/doom bands like Sleep and Electric Wizard.

what's yr favorite Melvins album? Mine is actually Electroretard since it's just so incredible crazy and all over the place. But Im' a big fan of the Atlantic trilogy of Stag/Stoner Witch/Houdini. The live Houdini album is even better than the studio version in my opinion. But they're definitely a favorite of mine that I do make an effort to keep up with.

I like Bullhead and Houdini an awful lot, but they aren't a band I've ever dug into all that deeply honestly. What I've listened to was awesome, so I should probably change that sometime.

Like an article on the front page? I doubt that will fly and I have no authority making that happen  but a thread should be posted up soon about the favorite albums of the year and that would be a more appropriate place to put the information.

I'd imagine a couple of those don't belong with a majority. :P

And for the record, A New Way to Say Hooray is "mindblowing". ;P
