Except that it didn't rumble nearly as much as the battery-using 1st party model.flojocabron wrote:

Get the Mad Katz Force Pack, it lights up and really has a kick. The best game for the shake? Dreamcast REZ the controller literally beats to the music.

I literally took one of those apart yesterday for an arcade stick pad hack. The brand is innovation.flojocabron wrote:something about the technology of the time couldnt allow it.
not enough electricty flowed thru the cable to make it with built in rumble like they do now. Also it was a design choice.

Some may have thought force feedback was gimmicky so they didn't incorporate it to the controller. Some today still dont like rumble on their controlers.
There is a Dreamcast controller with a built in rumble though. Its a six button for fighters and it only has one slot for memory.

I knew of the ASCII pad, didn't realize it had the rumble built in. Nice - thanks.
We played a ton of dreamcast from '99-'01 and never had a jump pack. I only got one recently. Guess I didn't miss it .

Well most of my playtime on DC involves Fighters, Shmups and various other Naomi Ports, so vibration doesn't elevate or enhance my gaming experience. Although it's great for RE titles, other Survival Horror games and Racers. Outside of the official Jump pack, my most favorite 3rd party equivalent is the DC Hyper Pak by Nyko. Good stuff!

I think most games supported. Also if memory serves me correct i think the 3rd party one "rumbles" more than Sega one. I cant seem to find mine to confirm this though.
Curtsy when you walk by that Dreamcast

It's not always the case. From personal experience "Perfomance" brand Jump pak does indeed vibrate significantly more than an official jump pak, While the Nyko hyper pak does a better job at vibrating on the same levels as the official one.. always go with offcial brand products, especially if the price difference is marginal, and it this case it's non existent
