Quirky PS3 games?

Post by zipmon »

Hey everybody!! I'm looking into getting a PS3, the backwards compatible kind, and I was thinking the Racketworld might be able to steer me in the direction of some games I'd like for it! I'm looking for fun, quirky, mostly non-violent games, along the lines of these, which are the games I have or am already planning on getting:

-Katamari Damacy series (I already bought Katamari Forever in anticipation of getting a PS3! :D )
-Mad Maestro
-Sly Cooper series
-PaRappa series
-Flower
-Rez
-Sonic Generations

Don't have to be PS3-exclusive; I don't have an Xbox360. I figured with the region-free thing the import scene might help with these kinds of games too! (Also, Google tells me no but I figured I'd ask here just in case, is there any non-messy way to play Japanese PS2 games on a US PS3?)

Cheers guys!! :)

I'd recommend Eternal Sonata, it's one of my favorite PS3 games. It's the plot that's quirky, the entire game is supposed to take place inside of a fantasy world conjured up by Frédéric Chopin while he was on his deathbed! As far as gameplay goes, it's a JRPG with a mixture of turn-based and real time combat. It's rather linear (no padding), and features some great endearing characters. For $19.99 you can't go wrong.

I always mean to keep my eye out for this one.

It's not too quirky but 3D Dot Game heroes is a great original Zelda clone made up of blocks (voxels maybe?). It's very pretty, and it doesn't take itself too seriously.

I'll always advise staying away from Flower. Maybe I just don't "get it", but it is the first time I've ever seriously wanted my money back.

I feel like I "get" Flower and I still think it's a stupid "game". Don't see the appeal at all... incredibly boring and not all that pretty visually. Having said that...

Get it now before it goes out of print! Every Best Buy around here has a handful in their discount bin. And it's $17 on Amazon right now.
