I am exited today cause I am now an owner of a used PS3.
A friend sold me his and now I have a 120gb PS3!
Questions are these...... Can I erase his user and yet still keep his games? It looks like he chose the Freebie of Little Big Planet and some other stuff with that whole hacker fiasco of a few months back.
Is this possible or am I S O O L?
If I format the hard drive and erase everything, is it worth it?
Granted he doesnt have much on it, but free games are free!
I've been fiddling with his username and deleting random users on it, and I still havent gone online with it.
I have a user name from my psp, so can I use this on the ps3 as well?
Please post to me here other more relevant threads about this so I can learn about this.
Help me become current gen!

to keep his games you'd need to keep his user account on there AND make a new one of your own.
and yes, you can use the same PSN acct that you started on PSP.

Now for another question.
It looks like he has netflix. When and if he pays his monthly bill how long do I have it? If he cancels it, how long till its cut off? When is the billing cycle? He sold it to me cheap and I dont wanna be a moocher. I should inform him about that so he can cancel it.

As long as he remains a Netflix subscriber and he doesn't deactivate his PS3 from the Netflix website, you'll be able to stream stuff. Talk to him about what he thinks of it.flojocabron wrote:thanks.noiseredux wrote:to keep his games you'd need to keep his user account on there AND make a new one of your own.

Re: OH NO! Not another noob I own a PS3 thread.
well, here I am again. I connected the PS3 to my wireless router.
I do get internet directly and I downloaded some new updates....
BUT I CANT LOG IN TO PLAYSTATION NETWORK!
my old PSP account works, so thats set up. but why cant I get on PSN?
It says: "The Connection With Playstation Network Timed Out"
And the Internet connection test also gets stuck! It goes through the ip adress, internet connection, and when it gets to PlaystationNetwork, it says Failed.
Is my connection too slow? Is my internet too basic for PSN to work? My intenet speed is 54Mbps, should it be faster?
what can I do?

Do you have security settings set in your router? Might be that traffic is not being allowed to all of the required ports.

Re: OH NO! Not another noob I own a PS3 thread.
thanks for the tip. I'll try that, but I'm not the best at figuring out stuff like this.
I have a cable modem connected to a wireless router. I use a normal computer (wired) and a netbook thats wireless.
I have a wii (wireless) and although I havent tried online games with it, I have used some of its online capabilities.
Its just strange the PS3 isnt cooperating. It must miss its orginal owner.
If I still cant do it, I'm just gonna hit up the fleamarket for a long cable and see if I can just use it wired.

Re: OH NO! Not another noob I own a PS3 thread.
yup, I did. Redid it again now that I got back from work.
still get the connection playstation network timed out!
Now heres the stupid question of the day! I live in mexico so does this affect how it should work? The console was previously in th US and brought it with me.
so should I just reformat the hard drive and set it up for use in mex? I would prefer it in english.
So to recap.....? Is it the ps3, my wireless, or my ISP that is preventing me from enjoying my ps3?
