that's his default name. That's what everyone else seems to know him as. My guy was named BRA though.

By end game Max was promoted at 15 and had level 19 on top of that. The guy was my champ. One hit killed basically everything.

My plan is to get him to 20 and promote him, guess I'll see how he turns out afterwards. By the way is he the unit that can use the Broad Sword?

Maybe I can throw an Amulet on him but oh wait, that horrible item management... haha, did they fix or change that at all in the other games? It'd be nice if his inventory was full then treasure chest items would just go to whoever is next on your list of characters with available space.

I am sad I didn't take part in this Together Retro because I adore the Shining series... I've just played this game too many times though and really don't feel like a replay any time soon.

Haven't you told me like everyone else here that the sequels are way better? Can't wait to hit those up since I've had a lot of fun with this one.

What exactly is it that makes the sequels better anyways? Been wanting to ask you guys that. Maybe it actually has a story? Haha...

Oh yeah. Definitely. Shining Force is a classic, but,

SF 3 >>>>>>>>> SF 2 > SF CD > SF

Shining The Holy Ark is also the shit.

The story in the game isn't that horrible. Frankly it is just as cliche as the overwhelming majority of RPGs from the era. At least the characters and world are interesting and the general design seems to have some unique elements. I don't get the complaints about the story...

Play Tactics Ogre (SNES/PSX) sometime if you haven't, lol. I don't think it compares to Fire Emblem games at all either in terms of story.
(granted perhaps the original Fire Emblem's at that time were this simplistic as well, only played the GBA ones so far myself).

Definitely not saying it's bad or really complaining, but the story and characters are just very bare bones and "just there". lol, the game is fun and charming enough though, which in my case personally can sometimes override a lacking story in JRPG's, so gameplay can win me over like SF1 did here. Not to mention I beat FFII (PSP) and FFIII (NES) earlier this year and "did it for the gameplay", haha. Nothing to really talk about story wise.

The inventory is much better in the later games, as well as the gba remake. Id have trouble playing the original again after the conveniences of the gba one...

I would say the stories are a bit better too, and the game more involved overall.
