I need something to tide me over for a week until Monkey Ball. Maybe I'll just practice BlazBlue.

I found some time to play today before being kicked out of a room - so I beat the colossus battle (first try!) and am about to fight Darksol finally. Hopefully I can find some time to finish this up before the week is out

awesome! Believe it or not, Colossus battle was way harder than the Darksol battle. Trust me, you are almost there!dsheinem wrote:I found some time to play today before being kicked out of a room - so I beat the colossus battle (first try!) and am about to fight Darksol finally. Hmm, for me the Colossus battle was much easier than the one at the start of Chapter 8 (the first one with all the Chimeras). I think I had to learn to play a little defense/let the flying villains come to me in that fight, and so I applied the same logic to the Colossus battle and had no problems at all. Mae, Pelle, and Gort are my attack sponges and my hardest hitters, but I've had to learn to be less aggressive in these last two chapters.noiseredux wrote:awesome! In a move of idiocy I promoted my main character near the end of Chapter 7 when he finally reached level 10, and so he is now absolutely worthless. Since he's a one-hit game-over, I have to protect him at all costs in each battle and can't really let him take even one hit. It makes it very much like chess, in a way, but also adds a layer of frustration/suspense to each fight in Chapter 8...

Re: Together Retro: Shining Force
I found the first battle of Ch8 really easy. I knew what to do in the COlossus battle, but I had a string of bad luck -- had the Chimeras get critical hits and fuck up my squad really fast a few times, so I just Egressed and started over.
Anyway, I'm looking forward to your thoughts on the Darksol battle. I found it surprisingly easy.

Wow dsheinem that sounds like a real handicap with Max, lmao. Did you just naturally keep him behind the lines in most battles? I kind of have been doing that myself although he's level 17 or 18 I think and I'm still at that last battle in chapter 6, guess I used him a little more than you lol. Still I just send Luke, Gort, Zylo, and the centaurs out front to tear it up since Max's death is game over.

Re: Together Retro: Shining Force
I did the same with Max. Honestly, I didn't use him for much other than to surround him by stronger dudes and use the um dark sword or whatever it's called as an Item to cast that spell he has.
Re: Together Retro: Shining Force
Yeah, plus I don't know if this was the same experience you guys had, but Max seems to have quite possibly the worst hit percentage as well, he misses a lot more than my other units. So I'll occasionally use him to finish off some enemies to get some good exp, but yeah never really send him out there by himself.
