FML... I think my PSP is bricked (nope! Fixed!)

Post by noiseredux »

so I was trying to get Fusa setup, but it wasn't compatible with 6.39-PRO, so decided to switch to 6.39-ME instead. ME worked just fine on my PSP. But after I went into the recovery menu to enable the Fusa plugin, my PSP froze while going back to the XMB. Next thing I know I've got the dreaded black-screen-of-death with green light when I try to turn it on. I tried turning it on holding down start-select-X-O and start-select-triangle-square. Nothing. What's worse, I can't find my Pandora. :|

I can't even tell you. I'm so mad that I don't even want to think about it right now. I'm sure if I get a Pandora I can get it working again. I'm just furious this happened though.

I haven't messed with my PSP in a while, but can't you hold down R while booting up to go into some kind of recovery mode?

If you can't find your Pandora, I saved mine for such an occasion. I could loan it to you. PM me if you want.

Or, I kinda remember reading something about using a PSP with CFW to unbrick another PSP. I think, you prepare the memory card with the necessary files and then use a Pandora battery and reflash the firmware... unless that's not the problem you're having.

When I had issues with my psp and plugins, I just removed my memory stick (and deleted the plugin) and my psp worked fine. Most likely a different issue, but something to try.

OMG that worked! This is why I love having geeky friends!

Thanks, em! I figured it was the plugin fucking things up, but it didn't even occur to me to just stick the memory card in the computer rather than go the USB route. THANKS!!!!!!

are there any compelling reasons to update to 6.39? my psp is still on 5.50 gen d3 I think and plays everything I ask it to. There aren't really going to really be any new releases at this point I don't think and I think I have just about everything I'm interested in ever having. Am I missing any awesome features that later firmwares give me?
