Technical help with Team Fortress 2

Post by MrEco »

OK, here's the issue.

I double click the TF2 desktop icon. Up comes the little message that says "Preparing to launch Team Fortress 2..."

And then nothing. That message just stays there and the game never launches.

I Google'd the problem and tried some of the suggestions. I tried verifying the game cache files (This did absolutely nothing to fix the problem) and I also tried updating to the most recent version of Windows (This too did nothing). The other big suggestion was updating my computers drivers, but the last time I did that I screwed something up and my computer wouldn't produce sound of any kind for a couple days until I could get someone to come fix it. And besides, as far as I know I believe I'm already using the most updated drivers I can be using.

You may have to bite the bullet and redownload the whole game.Usually when i get a similar thing i usually have something else running, screwing it up.

Failing that you could always drop them a email. My experience with customer support is a good one.

Correct, all of that's in the Steam cloud. I had to download it fresh onto my laptop at one point and none of my progress was affected.

Don't worry, you won't lose anything. Since we don't know what the problem is just reinstall everything. If it doesn't work, contact Steam support, they will lend you a hand.

There has been an update so it's probably the cause.
