Yeah, it came out today, though I wasn't able to access it on PSN until late in the day

I think it was six dollars
Oooh, I might have to try that tonight.

-edit-

Rats, challenge maps only? Is this how all of the additional skins are going to be?

So I've beaten the storyline, beaten all the side missions, and am currently two Riddler Challenges away from having all of those with Batman (the ones I'm missing are for gliding over water and attacking folks while coming out of an Aerial Assault). I've gotten all the storyline stuff with Catwoman, so she's just kinda there now. I'm considering New Game +, but I haven't even begun looking at the challenge maps.

I want to say this now: excellent cameos, not just in the number of characters in the central story, but especially in the sidequests and amongst a few guys who were casually mentioned. The Identity Thief sidequest in particular stands out to me because it really helps contribute to the feel of an ongoing world. And once again I'm happy to see Riddler written effectively. I miss Scarecrow, but after his stellar performance in Arkham Asylum, I'm not really surprised he didn't make the cut.

The only real complaint I have about the game is that Two-Face just came off as a weakling. Even with the Catwoman side story, he never shines with the likes of Joker or Penguin.

Yeah, that stinks, but I am having a blast with those challenge maps. Jumping on top of a hulking beast and riding him around as he smacks a bunch of thugs into a nearby, electrified gate or stunning a ninja, then pummeling her with a flurry of punches followed by a knee to the face, knocking her skull into a wall

Good times :D

I've just been blowing through the extreme, combat challenge maps with Nightwing and beating the high scores, even doubling one or two of them. I'm not sure if I've just finally become one with the combat system, or if Nightwing is just that good. I even finished his Expert Combat and Combat Master campaigns with all medals without too much trouble.

Yeah, Two Face got kind of wasted unfortunately. It was still nice to see him in the game though. I'm still thrilled that they managed to get Robin in the story and actually make him seem pretty cool

The PC version has been delayed another week. I'd rather get LA Noire and wait for AC to get a price drop.

Got it, and I like it, but damn I can't get a highscore on any challenge maps. I just can't get the flow with combos, or special moves. (Especially those damned X+Y and A+B moves, why the hell couldn't they figure that out? I have to look at my controller to pull those off...)

Of course, I never even got Freeflow Perfection in the first game...
Systems: Game Boy, Game Boy Color, Game Boy Advance, N64, Gamecube, Xbox 360

WTB: Boxes for a silver Gamecube System(and a hyperport cover), and a box for an Ice Blue N64 console. Will pay 7.50 for each and shipping.

Anybody hear about the supposed game-save-deleting bug with Arkham City? I heard something about it on the radio, that apparently it's possible that the game will simply erase your save file if you downloaded Catwoman.

As someone who got all trophies AND achievements for Arkham Asylum and has already gotten all the medals for Arkham City for every combat map with every character(except Robin, since I don't have him yet), I'll try and tell you what seems to work for me in getting high scores.

I don't hear a lot of people say it, but the vault over move is essential to combat in my opinion. It keeps your combo going, can substitute for a counter, and allows you to move around the combat area to get a more advantageous position or just get a view of what's happening around you. I use it constantly. I'm talking about the move Batman does when you move your analog stick towards a guy and hit the run button

Also remember a few more things. You can dodge roll away from someone ONCE without breaking your combo. However, you'll have to hit someone, use a gadget on someone or vault over someone immediately after to keep your combo going. Batarangs are really handy in combat. They can knock down or stun someone dangerous like a guy with a gun or a guy who is about to throw something at you. It's also great to toss out a Batarang if you just don't have anyone near you to attack, though once Batman's combo meter gets high enough he has enough range to hit just about anyone no matter where the hell they are on the screen. He is the goddamn Batman after all! You can toss out up to three Batarangs in quick succession too without breaking a combo. Sometimes I'll just toss out one or two of them when I'm in the thick of a crowd as it's a quick attack and it's bound to hit someone. Plus, I'll get lucky sometimes and take out a guy with a gun or projectile that I wasn't even aware of

A couple more things to remember. If you get your combo high enough you enter focus mode, which slows combat down. You can stay in this mode as long as you don't use a special move. I love focus mode because if your combo meter gets this high you can start really racking up points by doing nothing more than just attacking. That's the trick, don't use your special moves. If there are a fairly large number of enemies still around, you'll get more points just using regular attacks on them. If you do a special, it'll not only end focus mode but it'll KO a guy that you could have possible gotten three or four attacks on to built up your combo further AND increase your score

Speaking of specials, when I do use them I only ever use the ground take down. So if you're having trouble remembering them all, just stick with that one. The others specials are just for fun or just for show in my opinion. Ground take down will instantly take out just about anyone and gets the job down. What I love about this move is that it allows me to avoid unnecessary combat shenanigans. Instead of having to find ways to break through the defenses of shielded or armored enemies, I can just use the ground take down to take them out.

I also never use blade dodge or blade takedown. If a knife user tries to take a swing at me I just vault over him. It's much less complicated than blade dodge and I can quickly take him down with a ground takedown or a few regular attacks. Again, blade dodge and blade takedown are just for show in my eyes. Fun to do, but unnecessary. In my opinion, if you want high scores with little hassle, just stick to the essentials and avoid the fancy stuff

If you stun an enemy with Batman's cape you can quickly built up your combo score by pummeling him with the beat down move. This is handy and sometimes I'll keep an armored foe conscious just so I can do that to him or even go after him first to quickly built up my combo score.

When you're facing a round of thugs backed up by the big one armed guys or the big, hulking guys, go for the big dudes first! This sounds insane, but if you can get them out of the way early, you can more easily pick off the rest of the guys while building up your combo and racking up points. Plus, if you're good you can quickly build up your combo early by doing the beat down move on the one armed guys, or attack the big, charging guys so you can jump on their backs and rack up points using them to hit other guys(particularly if there is a handy electrified fence to knock them into heh heh heh)

I'll mention a few other random things. You get a pretty big score bonus for getting through a combat challenge without taking damage. I've gotten high scores on some maps without it, but it's a big help. I think it's 5000 points. Catwoman kind of sucks for challenge rooms. It's not super hard to get high scores with her, but it's easier with Batman and Nightwing. She can get the job done though, don't get me wrong. Oh and swing the camera around at every opportunity with the analog stick so you get a sense of what's happening around you

Since you posted this, I've heard a lot of random things about this. So it's hard to point to a specific cause. Plus, I've no doubt that some people are experiencing it due to dumb things like exiting the game while it's saving. It seems to only affect some people and seems to be more prevalent on the 360, though it could simply be that more people are playing it on that system

I would say just to back up your save data and not worry about it. I try to do that with everything I play. Being able to copy to a USB flash drive and then copy to a computer is pretty awesome. It's actually because of stuff like this that it angers me when I play a game with copy lock. Fortunately, that's not the case with Arkham City

I finished the Identity Theft sidequest and, like Ack, I enjoyed it. This quest really made me feel like Batman the World's Greatest Detective. After finding the first two bodies, the game pretty much leaves you hanging with no clue where to go or what to do next. At first, I was annoyed by this, but then I started thinking like Batman. I considered where the two bodies were found, and decided to focus on exploring that particular part of the city.

Now, I usually travel around using the high ground by gliding, moving from rooftop to rooftop and grappling everywhere. I realized that if I wanted to find the killer I'd need to move around on street level. So I did that, keeping an eye out for any corpses(periodically activating Batman's detective sense to help me find them), and beating up random thugs foolish enough to provoke The Batman. I kept pulling up the map and setting custom waypoints to keep track of where I'd already been and where I wanted to go next.

When I found the bodies, Batman would set up a crime scene and I would look for evidence to analyze, then Batman would call in Oracle to get further information to help him with the case. Eventually, Batman found the trail and I followed it back to a guy and I interrogated him. This guy then told me where the killer's hideout is and I headed there to finish this particular sidequest.

That's good old fashioned detective work right there. That whole sidequest involved no combat or stealth, just exploring, finding clues, interrogation and following a trail. Good stuff

I have a few minor complaints about some of the dialog in the game now that I've played it for a while. I hate it when Riddler taunts Batman by asking him if he needs to go online to find the answers to his riddles. I really, really hate him acknowledging that I am playing a game and feels that it contradicts the world that this game is set in. Nobody is supposed to be meta or break the fourth wall in this game and he does it and it irrtates me. He's not Deadpool, who can do that sort of thing because it's part of his character. Deadpool knows he's a comic book character in a comic book world. Riddler is not supposed to know he's in a video game and if he doesn't know that he's in a video game than what he is saying doesn't even make sense unless it's a really pathetic attempt at humor. If it is, it's not even remotely funny as the joke doesn't make sense. Nobody's going to have the answers to some murdering psychopath's riddles on the internet unless he put them there himself, which would be ridiculous

I also hate when I'm doing the Nightwing DLC and I hear a thug say, "who the hell is Nightwing?". Really Rocksteady, you want to sell me on how badass Nightwing is by having people talk about him like he's a nobody in Gotham?

Anyway, the game is still utterly fantastic. I'm just nitpicking.

DirectX 11 issues. developer says use 9 instead  A sad state of affairs for big-budget PC gaming.
