If they could make something that is effective and fun at that price point, I'm in.
I don't see why it wouldn't be effective in weight loss. All you need is a phone book to do aerobic "step" exercises afterall (although, I'm sure Reebok will try to convince you that their "step" tools are X% more effective and provide better shock absorption to keep you from injuring your ankles or something).
As for making it fun... I can't comment as I haven't tried it
Just got it this morning and my first impression is pretty good. I heard they had to make it a bit sturdier for Americans...because were so fat here.. haha. I really got it for my wife, since she has had some medical issues and needs to work on her balance. Using it with Wii ski is pretty cool to steer with.
I only picked it up 9:00am this morning so its not much of a review since I have only had it for just about 2 hours. But none the less its fun so far.
Its not just a "work out" controller... it adds allot to the games with with balance board. I think were going to see some cool games, as cool as wii games can get..haha, that use the balance board. I'm not a huge wii fan but my wife loves the thing.
The Balance Board is very responsive and does not feel wonky at all. I was afraid it was going to feel like your standing on couch cushion but it feels solid and tracks the balance with no lag that I can see.
Need to head into work .. will play with it more tonight and let you guys know any more thoughts.
I just hope this isn't a gimmick like all those late night infomercial for weight loss product. If it is, then why not just go outside and do some exercise. If it makes a game fun or enhances the experience while at the same time help lose a couple pounds, then I think it is a wonderful idea. Regardless, I think it is good because it forces the American people get their fat asses of the couch and stand up once in awhile.
i actually like what nintendo is doing. they just want to make the games as much interactive as they can possibly get it. the balance board will be useful for a ton of games that they probably are testing out.
I wouldn't be surprised if a new Warioware game needed it for some stupid minigame.
