$60. Maybe $69.99 back in the day for a SNES cart. Some of the first-party ones got that high. But even then, I only paid that much for a game that I really, really wanted. Most of the time, my limit is $30 or less.

$60 for a CIB Chrono Trigger. I have gotten lucky since most of my expensive games have been given to me as gifts. The girlfriend got me my Earthbound and Contra Force and my Grandfather gave me Little Samson.

In which country? In the USA, first-party games were $10 less than others. I purchased games such as Starfox, Super Mario Kart, and Super Punch Out on day one for $40.BurningDoom wrote:$60. The only expensive Super NES game I can recall is Final Fantasy III ($65).

I remember another one, in 06 I spent $400 on a copy of King of Fighters 96 MVS. The 2 slot cab it was in was flawless, never been in an establishment. Original everything, only had been on a few hours. The guy who had it bought it right before he closed is restaurant. It came in after he had closed down and sat in a shipping crate in his warehouse since 96/97. He offered it to a mutual friend who brought me into the equation. I turned around and sold it for alot more. But the guy just wanted it gone.
I kinda wish I had kept it, it was flawless. He had a Ms Pacman cocktail aswell, but he wanted a grand for it - it was not in perfect shape.

I got a few gems in my collection, but I am pretty frugal overall. The most I have spent for a game is probably around $80, with a couple being purchased in that range.

There seems to be a lot of forgetful people due to the distinct lack of MMOs listed. I know it is a technicality, but still.

I played Dungeon Fighter Online for about 2 years and averaged around $40 a month. So that means I spent about $960 total on that one game.Hobie-wan wrote:There seems to be a lot of forgetful people due to the distinct lack of MMOs listed. I know it is a technicality, but still.
MMOs are my favorite genre and it kills me to see them all going pay to win now. 2 years ago I said "fuck it" and decided to try my best to play and enjoy one anyway. Honestly, I did enjoy it at first but eventually I just couldn't stand it anymore and I had to quit. If DFO wasn't pay to win, it would probably be the very best game ever. Such a shame.
I vow to never play another pay to win game again. I know first hand how that business model completely destroys a good game.
PSO 2, if you are pay to win, I will not play you.

Maybe they weren't first-party games, my bad if they weren't. But there was definetly $69.99 SNES games. That was part of the alure of CD-Rom based games back in the day, they weren't quite as expensive as cartridges were.Zing wrote:In which country?
