So I'm using Download Helper in Firefox to backup my 100 youtube videos I posted since joining. A lot of accounts are being suspended these days for having copywrited clips of games, and while I'm not nearly as popular as those that are getting the ban hammer, it could still happen to me.
So I'm downloading all the videos very easily. They're arriving in their .flv flash containers.
1) Is there a way to extract the videos from these containers to their true codec format in the avi container, without recompression? I assume youtube and other sites compress in some kind of mp4 standard.
2) If I were to want to post these videos to my site someday (which uses xhtml + css) is there a script or something that would allow the flv files to stream and play properly when hosted and displayed on my site? Would be nice to do this if I ever get banned. Lots of memories in these videos.
3) Further, is there anyway to periodically backup all cumulative data on my youtube account, like descriptions, ratings, hits, comments and such for all my videos? I'd hate to lose all that.
