Any Website That Lists Patches?
Re: Any Website That Lists Patches?
I think we should abandon the term "oxbox" here. It's Xbox and 360: two different consoles.

Re: Any Website That Lists Patches?
A lot of people still refer to the 360 as "xbox" though.
I don't find find "oxbox" confusing at all. What else could it mean?
its not as bad as people using "psx" since that could mean 2 different things.
Either way, its kinda minor, and I doubt, now that people are using "oxbox", that it could be removed from our forum vocabulary.

I hear you...o.pwuaioc wrote:I think we should abandon the term "oxbox" here. It's Xbox and 360: two different consoles.
It's just that some people think you're talking about the 360 when you write Xbox.
Using oXbox makes it clear what console you're talking about.
As long as you know the term that is.

I thought you just misspelled Xbox and were referring to Xbox 360 game updates. Yeah, no matter what Xbox Original game you put in, the 360 will do an update if it's the first time trying to play an Xbox Original. That update just adds the support for them in general. But not all of them are supported.elmagicochrisg wrote:You do know that oXbox stands for original Xbox right?...
Also, on the note of what we should call the Original Xbox; I have never heard the term "oxbox". It should be called Xbox 1, Xbox Original, or Original Xbox. When referring to 360, I usually just say Xbox or 360. Just saying Xbox should mean the current Xbox console.

Xbox = Xbox. 360 = Xbox 360. Think of the children!

Re: Any Website That Lists Patches?
I'm definitely writing oxbox over Original xbox.
I like the idea that the 360 should be called 360, but people will still confuse xbox for 360, as happened in this thread.
Its like Communism. It should work, but it won't.
I don't get the arguement, "I've never heard "x" term, so we should call it something else"
You just heard the term, and will now always know what it means. Its really not complicated
Idk, it took me all of 1 brain cell to figure out what oxbox meant. Its about as confusing as PC (which could mean player's choice) actually, its less confusing.

While you are absolutely correct, it doesn't help your cause any. Those who aren't savvy will continue to use "xbox" to refer to the current console. As long as they do that, "xbox" will be ambiguous so it's better not to use the term.o.pwuaioc wrote:Xbox = Xbox. 360 = Xbox 360. Think of the children!
It's a lot like "shooter". Rightfully, shmups should be called shooters, they were here first. But FPSs have surpassed them in popularity and now if you say "shooter" people assume FPS. So we have to invent a new term just to be unambiguous.
Sucks, but English is descriptive not prescriptive.

it's funny though, if I say "I was just playing my PlayStation" you probably don't think I mean PS3.
