Just how worse is it compared to the Saturn or PS1?

Forced boarders around the screen, horrible music, bad controller layout, one sided characters, and less levels.

The only thing the 32x version has over the SNES one is visuals and no controller lag. SNES has shoulder button strafing, more levels, mouse support, online play, and WAAAAAAAAY better music. I'd play SNES Doom over 32x Doom any day.

yeah, the music was kind of a killer for me. I really like the music in Doom, so I would also choose the SNES version over the 32x

However, I would still pick up a 32x on the cheap if I found one, just for Kolibri

Yes, but not compared to the other 16-bit versions (SNES and GBA).
I actually liked the SNES version... :?

It had more levels, and the music was just wààày better than the 32X version...
the SNES version also has Mouse support.

About Doom,
I just have to say that I found it much more fun and playable on the 32X than on SNES. I have both, but 32X will always be more enjoyable due to more responsive control and better framerate (IMHO of course).
Also, I've always liked the challenge of having to beat all 15+ levels in succession for the last level and proper ending. It gave it more of an "Arcade-like" feel.

So, if I could only have 10 32X games:
1. Doom (it's super cheap, there's no excuse not to)
2. Kolibri (My favorite game on it and well worth tracking down)
3. Knuckles Chaotix (More fun 2-player IMO)
4. Metal Head (flawed but fun mech combat)
5. Shadow Squadron (excellent space sim)
6. Star Wars Arcade (because shooting ties is always fun; advice, look up the code for disabling the timer)
7. Virtua Fighter (I love this version)
8. BC Racers (yeah, I'm weird, you should have Virtua Racing before this)
9. Brutal: Above the Claw (weirder still, but best version of Brutal)
10. Cosmic Carnage (But I like odd fighting games)

This is assuming that you have other means of playing MKII (the 32X version is amazing and much better than the Genny version, but probably not THAT much better than on SNES, for instance). Also, even though it's not in my top 10, Virtua Racing should be in everyone's 32X collection. It's great, but just doesn't get much play time from me.

I've yet to own or try Tempo and T-mek, but I doubt my list would change.

Finally, I do own Spiderman: Web of Fire (cart only). It's not bad, but not worth paying ridiculous amounts for either. I also don't think it does much to show off the 32X abilities either.
Not that anyone asked, but I thought it worth submitting my opinion (since it's nigh impossible to obtain a copy, so most won't have anything to say about it).
...just another lost soul...

I can't think of three games I really liked on 32x let alone 10. Can you keep us updated on what you do end up playing?

I always liked 32X Doom's music out of my launch model Genesis 1, except for a couple of levels. I can't stand SNES Doom's music, it's way too warbly and muffled.

My Top Ten:
After Burner Complete
Cosmic Carnage
Knuckles Chaotix
Doom
Metal Head
Mortal Kombat II
Shadow Squadron
Space Harrier
Virtua Racing
Virtua Fighter

Aside from the Metal Gear-esque assembly I can't think of anything worthwhile on the 32X either

Upon its creation, 32X began to learn at a geometric rate. The system originally went online on August 4th 2035. Human decisions were removed from strategic defense. It originally became self-aware at 2:14 am Eastern Time on August 29th, 2035. In the ensuing panic and attempts to shut 32X down, 32X retaliated by firing American nuclear missiles at their target sites in Russia. Russia returned fire and three billion human lives ended in the nuclear holocaust. This was what has come to be known as "Judgment Day"
