On the technical side, I personally have had very few problems (I have the 360v). A few glitches exist, but nothing I haven't seen in Morrowind or Oblivion. The game also got a little laggy after an extended game play session, so I called it quits for the day.
Patches are always welcome though, I look forward to them.

Well if it means anything I do think it's BS myself, needing to be online to play an offline game is super lame.BoneSnapDeez wrote:You really haven't stated why any of this requires a Steam account though.AmishSamurai wrote: It's completely ridiculous that a company try and protect a game they spent so much time making, but in an effort not to anger dedicated fans who have stayed with the series for ages despite all of the bugs the series is famous for having, chose the least intrusive method that only requires a one-time online verification, and then will instantly give you game patches as they are made while also letting you bypass it by simply running the game from the .exe or in offline mode. It's completely unreasonable. Money grubbing whores.
I realize I'm complaining about a small inconvenience, but it's something that compounds pretty quickly when every PC game seems to require an account at a different site (I had to create Kalypso Media and EA accounts for the last two games I purchased). I'm not boycotting Skyrim, I'll just be getting a console version instead.
And yeah I'm with saturnfan, playing the 360 version and it arguably doesn't look as good as the PC version from what my friends have showed me, but does that mean it looks bad? Nope. Totally having fun with the 360 version myself. I just hope that first patch fixes the menu lag.

After 3 hours of searching every apothecary in skyrim for daedra hearts, I finally have a complete set of daedric armor, a greatsword, and bow, all at Legendary craftsmanship. I look like Sauron.

Steam doesn't require you to be online to play. It requires one authentication online, the first time you launch the game. It only requires an internet connection at this stage. Something you ought to have, or else you wouldn't buy a game through Steam. So, it's definitely reasonable.Xeogred wrote:Well if it means anything I do think it's BS myself, needing to be online to play an offline game is super lame.
After authenticating, you can do as it pleases you. You can play your whole life without logging in.

Complaining about needing a Steam account is like complaining about needing an email account to purchase products online.BoneSnapDeez wrote:You really haven't stated why any of this requires a Steam account though.AmishSamurai wrote: It's completely ridiculous that a company try and protect a game they spent so much time making, but in an effort not to anger dedicated fans who have stayed with the series for ages despite all of the bugs the series is famous for having, chose the least intrusive method that only requires a one-time online verification, and then will instantly give you game patches as they are made while also letting you bypass it by simply running the game from the .exe or in offline mode. Do you actually NEED Steam account to play Skyrim? What happened to just buying the game, installing the disc, and playing it? I hate Steam so much.

Steam account's more likely to get hacked from no fault of your own than Gmail.MrPopo wrote:Complaining about needing a Steam account is like complaining about needing an email account to purchase products online.

I like that steam games don't require cd in drive to play. It also keeps your games up to date for you easily...

Yeah but then there's Counter-Strike Source and TF2 that need updates twice a day it seems... lol, kind of annoying.Jmustang1968 wrote:I like that steam games don't require cd in drive to play. It also keeps your games up to date for you easily...

Actually funny enough, I've had more attempts at hacking Gmail accounts I almost never used than I have with my Steam account.o.pwuaioc wrote:Steam account's more likely to get hacked from no fault of your own than Gmail.MrPopo wrote:Complaining about needing a Steam account is like complaining about needing an email account to purchase products online.
