I finally got my first ever smartphone today as a late birthday gift from my parents cause my old phone that I've had for 4 years has been having a ton of issues. Got an iphone 4 S and it blows my mind how much these smartphones can do. Just downloaded Street Fighter IV Volt cause it was on sale for $0.99 :D

Crickets.

I'm not a vegetarian, but I was surprised how well sweet potatoes can substitute for meat in chili recipes. Not all chili recipes, but this one is hearty, filling, delicious, and cheap.

Yes I so need a fryer. Just have to convince the wife it won't kill me...

That recipe looks great! My wife made a sweet potato hash with ground beef and it was like just eating a bunch of meat (not a bad thing), so I could see what you are saying about it being a good substitute.

Unless you get a commercial grade one, I would highly suggest not getting a fryer. They're filthy, require a lot of care and clean up, and are kind of gross. You can easily pan fry or even roast a lot of "fried food". But, it is a matter of taste.

My favorite "fries" are red potatoes, sliced at about 1/4 inch thick, and cooked in a 400 degree oven for 20 minutes, covered in freshly ground cumin and s&p. Wife covers them with ketchup, but I like 'em just the way they are.

I've heard the Cool Daddy one isn't bad for clean-up, I also have a cast iron that I could use if I really wanted to. I agree there's no substitue for roasted veggies. Love potatoes that way as well as brussel sprouts and broccolini.

I do something similar but with sweet potatoes. I probably slice them to 1/8" thick, toss them with olive oil (2 T), kosher salt, thyme.

All this is doing, is making me hungry an hour before lunchtime. :(

No kidding. I already had lunch, and I'm still hungry.

But if anyone here hasn't tried parsnips, turnips, or rutabaga, please do. I eat radishes raw, so maybe I'm a weird-o, but these veggies are dynamite when it comes to taste and nutrition. Even by themselves, they're great with all spice, cloves, cinnamon, anise, or a mix.

You know, 3DS was hyped up pre-launch as being as powerful as the GCN. But so far, most of the library looks like a PSP game. :?
