I was just browsing the Office Depot website and came across this little beauty...
Listing at Office Depot: http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/1 ... D-Monitor/
Listing at LG website: http://www.lgsolutions.com/products/lcd ... en-monitor
It has a DVI and D-Sub connection. 1920 x 1080 resolution. Integrated "f-engine" chip for greater picture clarity
What do you guys think - would this be a nice monitor for shmups with TATE?

I'll be the first to exhibit my ignorance; Aside from the swivel base, how does this monitor make tate'ing easier? You couldn't just buy a 22" for $200 and set up tate in the game menu? Or is it not that simple?Weekend_Warrior wrote:I was just browsing the Office Depot website and came across this little beauty...

Since its 16:9, you will have space at the top and bottom of the monitor when playing in TATE. Other than that, it looks prerty nice, although I know nothing about prices.
What inputs does it have?

16:9 is definitely not ideal if TATE is your goal. As mentioned already you're going to end up with lots of wasted space on the top and bottom (unless the picture stretches and then it will look horrible anyway).
I managed to snag a free 20 inch 4:3 lcd that rotates about a year or two ago and it is awesome for some TATE action. My 20in 4:3 monitor probably gives a larger picture than than that 22in 16:9 would. Look for something cheap and used if you can.

What is your source? PC, 360, DC or retro? Native mode comes into play here. If you can get an output that matches the LCD or deal with massive black borders to maintain 1-to-1 pixels, it will look good. I'll still take a PVM CRT running SCART/RGB for the 16-bit stuff. Tate is 4x3 (well, 3x4 I guess) so WS is moot, as has been said already.Weekend_Warrior wrote: It has a DVI and D-Sub connection. 1920 x 1080 resolution.
