I love the logic around the writer not liking Mortal Kombat or Street Fighter (lets summize - he doesn't like fighting games in general) - hence Smash Brothers is bad. Horrid.

Definitely a bunch of crap games, except for Yoshi's Island. It's arguably the best 2D platformer ever made, not a candidate for "worst of" lists.

Smash Bros. is the Mario Kart of fighting games, with all the pros and cons that brings with it.

No I mean, I can understand the people who don't like Smash Bros. as a series, I'm talking about the shit it gets from people who enjoyed the N64 and Gamecube games.

His list of favorite Mario's isn't awful. I can see how someone expecting a SMW sequel would be put off by Yoshi's Island. Compare his lists and you can see he has some issues with sequels or prequels not living up to the others in the series. My take is he's just a dude that's played some of the bigger Marios and wasn't aiming for anything of video-gaming historical significance.
