What is Usenet?

Talk about just about anything else that is non-gaming here, but keep it clean

@gtmtnbiker
Yes, I did use google. Unfortunately I didnt know i had to search for "how to DOWNLOAD FILES from usenet" I kept searching for "how to use usenet" which didnt help a lot . Thanx for ur help

@superduperkid
Great simple guide, helped me a lot!

I didnt know i had to search for files OUTSIDE usenet then log on to usenet to use it . I got it now. I thought I had to search for it IN the newsreader which made more sense to me

one questoin:
how do you know these files are legit? On torrents I know by numbers of seeders and reviews , whats the indicator here? is it the number of hits?

Sites like NZBMatrix will actually have comments on items, a lot of the time.

Also, I created a shoddy little video for some friends a couple of months ago regarding usenet and I forgot about it until now.

Actually ur video was pretty good, now I got a good idea about usenet...
its like just a storage for pirated stuff, i dont think any one really uses the newsgroups to talk

I also think that there is just too much to pay for a "quicker" speed over torrent not to mention that stuff uploaded eventual does get deleted, thats equivalent to no seeders.

I am guessing Usenet is worth while for HEAVY pirating, like complete box sets thats are like 100GB or something like that. Any way, I dont agree that people should do heavy pirating . Its good for older,rare stuff or stuff that u r not sure about u want to pay for. But to pirate everything outright ...i dunno..

I am guessing its much more affordable than those Dropbox services where you upload something and you pay alot for low volumes of storage, usenet seems unlimited as I understand...

So i paid the $10 10yr VIP at nbzMatrix, I found SOME stuff that I want, but I found that bittorrent had everything I looked for. Surprisingly, its hard to find the 700mb movies on Usenet they are all DVD rips and BD rips at 4GB and 10GB which is too much for one film for me.

I tried some stuff to check it out but I always get "403 error article not found" I researched it looks like its because the Usenet provider has low retention . This surprises me as I am on the trial of Giganews which is supposed to be the BEST usenet provider out there. whats wrong?
