Also, any Landstalker fans here? Just stumbled upon this game and looked it up on youtube, it looks really cool. In fact, I just double checked and it looks like the Shining Force developers were behind it, haha. I noticed some same sound effects between the two when I was watching some videos. Considering I'm loving the heck out of Shining Force that also boosts my interest in Landstalker.

I didnt mind FFXIII gameplay either. At first I didnt like it, but as it became a bit more robust, then I liked the strategic value it could offer. You could control or reasonably predict what your guys would do but indirectly. Somewhat similar to the combat gameplay of Ogre Battle which of course I like...

My problems with XIII were everything else. Combat gameplay and graphics were atleast fun or nice, the story, characters, and gameplay outside of combat were bad.

Sadly I can concur a bit on that.

But yeah it really bugged me when it came to buffs. It would've been really nice to be able to control what your characters cast in what order.

Ya, what I liked about FFXII is that your guys would buff and all that automatically. Too often in the old school FFs or other RPGs I would never use buffs or anything but healing or damage spells due to eventual laziness unless it was a hard boss fight. Most fights ended up with me just spamming regular attack or some special attack.

Excellent game. You can probably find it for 12 bucks or less. Buy it.

I also stress again to explore more into Shining Force if you are liking this one... I think it is the weakest one of the main entries.

Yeah everyone seems to be saying that, so considering I'm really enjoying the original and surely going to finish it soon with some of you guys, yeah I'm definitely going to look into the sequels. I might try and hit up Landstalker or Phantasy Star before then though, hitting up some of the other good Genesis RPG's, heh.

Ya the Sega CD version is a direct sequel. SF2 is a successor in the same world, and has some references to 1 but thats it. There is a Gamegear Gaiden which is a prequel to 2 that has been translated so you can play a translated rom.

SF3 is amazing, and the 2nd and 3rd chapters have recently been translated as well. I havent played those. I am about to go through the entire SF3 experience soon and I am really excited about it.
