With Lunar on TR we have our first game that may be emulated on PS - and arguably it is the best way to play it. If I emulate it, it will be the first time I use ePSXe, and I found that a bit intimidating... The only guide we have on it has just some info on the filters.
I'm wondering if on these occasions when a trickier emulator is one of the options, if it would be helpful of providing some extra content (for example, Saturn emulators used to be a pain when I tried them - when we have our first Saturn game it would be good to do something about it). We may have people skipping on playing the PS version and opting on the GBA because of the extra trouble of the PS version gives them.
Already last week there was a bit of this "problem" with emulating Samurai Shodown, but I was too busy to chime in this thought at the time.
I'll see if I can configure ePSXe on my own without too much trouble and googling for help...
Ivo.
Together Retro and emulation
Good point. I experiment troubles with the SegaCD emulated under Kega Fusion. I guess I must burn a CD-R with the game instead to try directly from the ISO.
Right now I'm waiting for a copy of the PSX version. I hope run it on my PS2. However if troubles show with this then I will switch to run it on ePSXe which run very fine in my desktop PC at home.
BTW: my Dreamcast broke today
I guess I need a second one as backup

Again I will recommend pSX instead of epsxe only because of its ease of use.
pSX does not have the filters and such, but it plays most games flawlessly with only one setting.
I like epsxe, but reconfiguring it for every game is a pain in my arcade cabinet...

KEGA works for me, but I used ImgBurn http://www.imgburn.com/ to make an image of my original Sega CD not an ISO & MP3.neoclasic wrote:Good point. I experiment troubles with the SegaCD emulated under Kega Fusion. I guess I must burn a CD-R with the game instead to try directly from the ISO.

I would burn the ISO/MP3 to a cd then rip it to your hard drive using imgburn... or just play the psx version.
If you want to make a working ISO/MP3 version, with a correct cue sheet, use CDDissect. Its a great program written by the king of Xbox emulator ports, XPort. The program is a nice and clean command line app and works great.

Good Luck

I had the same problem with .iso + mp3, I was just missing a .cue sheet.
Get Sega Cue maker, install it, create the .cue and it will be good to go. Or convert all the mp3 to .wav (I think that also works).
But let's not get too stuck in Lunar, the point of the thread was when something like this comes around (that goes for Samurai Shodown), I think it's good for the club if there's a bit more detail than just stating "you can emulate this on X" (X being a good emulator of the platform). That works well for the simpler emulators though. For Sega CD we actually had the KEGA guide already, although I note I should have put something about .cue files in there! I added a comment for now, maybe I can enter the article and add this today.
Thanks for the PSX highlight, I will try that.

Sometimes the music doesn't play at the appropriate times (or at all) when the cues are generated by Sega Cue Maker. The only way I've found to make a working rip is with CDDissect. If you look closely at the cue sheet that is output by Cue Maker, you'll see that the music cues are all identical.
I found this out through much trial and error.
Good luck!

I downloaded a bin/cue image from UG sometime in the past of the Sega CD version and I just mounted the image with Daemon Tools. Kega Fusion plays it just fine from there. I do have to make sure I'm not doing anything in the background with regular disk activity, though, or the music munges for a couple seconds every couple minutes. Part of that's due to my second HD being a 5400 RPM and the drive that's hosting the CD image.
So yes, you can burn to an ISO or disk image just fine, just make sure you are mounting the image properly with a tool like Daemon Tools.
Also, check the RPG forum area. I found a couple forum posts elsewhere on-line that tell how to deal with Lunar in ePSXe. Someone had had trouble and I linked possible solutions for them.
