Racism is not limited to Americans, nor to what you conceive of as "races". But to compare what's going on today to the 50s is to actually ignore the reality of the situation then and the very long way we've come today. Perfect? By no means, no. But infinitely better.OldSchool_Boy wrote:Fixed that for yao.pwuaioc wrote:It's because Americans have had to deal with the repercussions of race-based slavery and then race-based discrimination very recently and is still a problem today.

Maybe I should put more effort in fixing it because you are right about the long way from the segregation era.o.pwuaioc wrote: Racism is not limited to Americans, nor to what you conceive of as "races". A lot of Americans don't seem to realize this, but racism isn't an exclusively American problem, as you said. In fact, racism is the norm for the majority of the world and throughout history; societies with racial equality are rare.o.pwuaioc wrote:Racism is not limited to Americans, nor to what you conceive of as "races". Uggh. But when you get down to it, in most places today, if a black guy calls me a honky cracker ass mofo, its okay. If I tell him shut up for calling me that, I'm racist.

Not quite. Ethnic inequality is rampant, but that's not always "racial", which is actually absent from many cultures.BoringSupreez wrote:A lot of Americans don't seem to realize this, but racism isn't an exclusively American problem, as you said.
