Re: Death of the CD-R

I doubt the CD-R will die anytime soon. I still burn and use CD-Rs on a regular basis. Even though my car stereo supports plugging in a portable music player, I prefer to burn a bunch of mp3s to CD. I also use CDs for backup storage if a BD or DVD is too large.

Yeah, I have a couple of mp3 CDs in my car. I much prefer that to using an mp3 player, it's just so much easier. And I actually HAVE an mp3 player.

Sadly my car doesn't have an AUX-IN so I have to make do with hundreds upon hundreds of CD-Rs of music filling up my glove box.

I know more than a few people that share your exact situation.

I've been tempted in ripping the damn thing out and putting in a HDD compatible head but I just never get around to doing it.

It can't read mp3 CDs either?

Nope. This is a pretty basic model from 2006 before those things were pretty ubiquitous in cars.

How can be listening to music from multiple cds more convenient than an mp3 player?

It's not, just that I have no way of interfacing my MP3 player with my car stereo. So hundreds of CD-Rs will have to do.
