I think we're being unfair to Yoshi to assume that he used reverse Google search to get the answer.
Who's assuming he used it? My statement was more or less hypothetical.

Or is the image search the reason for the small pics? If the image is an uploaded attachment or saved to an individual's site with a name of say photo.005, does an image search find the correct original name? Does an image search tool actually compare the screenshot and find a similar jpg?
The images *could* be larger, but if you resize the image, it does make it more difficult for the reverse image search (obviously extreme resizing would make this more apparent).

But yes, Hobie is correct. The reverse image search does not try to determine the name of the file. It actually compares the image verses images of known files. If an exact match is found, it will return those. If no exact match is found, it will return visually similar images, typically leading to finding the answer without the need to research.

I am not trying to blame anyone for cheating. I am merely pointing out that one *could* cheat with the clues given, and result in making it unfair for anyone else who chooses not to use such a tool.

Marking on or manipulating the images is a good way to ensure that the image tool will not lead to an easy answer. However, I'm sure Hobie has something even more devious planned for us. :P

When it comes to arcade games in the mid-'80s and before, yes. When it comes to handheld games, yes. When it comes to the history of competitive video gaming, yes. Everything else? You got me there. I just am working way too hard at this. :P

Yes, that's the problem. No knowledge or working from clues or things in the image needed. Just push the win button. But don't worry, everyone is going to be screwed on my remaining screenshot images.
I'm sorry, that still surprises the crap out of me.

So I can take a Wikipedia image, rotate it, tilt it, give it a swirling effect, and show it to ... (webcrawl) the little Stantium-Cyclops, click the button, and it will figure out which image I just stole?
My scheduling skills have died of dysentery; I hope to visit at least on a monthly basis.
Still, don't forget to tip your waitress.

More like this.
And yes, it's very cool. You aren't supposed to confuse the search by manipulating the image, that is what I'm suggesting so that people can't use it to answer questions. So if you flip it or distort it, then it will probably fail.

I didn't assume or accuse anyone of doing so. I've been lazier on questions posted during the day. Getting clues from parts of the image, the number of colors and whatnot is different from someone using a tool that totally answers it for them if not disguised enough. Just something else that takes fun out of running this if I have to consider all angles that someone might possibly cheating instead of relying on knowledge or a little research.
