Is there a way to centralize all game saves?

Post by J T »

My laptop is an emarassing mess full of game save folders littered everywhere. Every game seems to have a different default location for saves. I have save games in my Steam folder, My Documents, Local AppData, etc. I wish I could tidy this up and put them all in one place. It would make backing up saves a lot easier too.

Some games are hard coded to save in a relative path from the game exe, such as the saves folder. Others are configurable through the registry. And some save in a Windows supplied place like the folders under the Documents folder. The best way to centralize would be to create some kind of Master Saves folder, then underneith it create a folder for each game. Then inside the area where the games normally save their files create a symlink to the approprate folder in Master Saves.
