Thats my understanding, I just bought it from a local place called Tapewarehouse. Ive bought stock from them for years, so the 400 cdrs cost me $40ish.

I think I finally threw out my zip100 drive. I had a syquest drive I used up until about five years ago. It crapped out on me. 1 gig carts!

I have a large collection of CDs that I keep adding to on a regular basis. I burn at least a hundred CDs every year for friends and for personal use. If the CD-R dies, it's not my fault.

Oh also, it might only hold 700MB, but blank CDs these days are about 20 cents.

i doubt it will die out yet considering most cars still have CD players and not to mention music album are release digitially and on cd's.

My car have cd deck and a tape deck lol

In adding Linux to an older computer, I found out I needed a CDR unless I wanted to see if the motherboard could handle a DVD-ROM that still required a PCI slot for decoding.

Thanks to Mr.Popo for shipping me some CDRs. :roll:

(Also, anyone want a DVD-ROM with PCI hardware decoder card?)

I love and still use CDs for three reasons:

1. A great way to physically own music
2. CD music is slightly better sound-quality-wise than MP3s
3. How else am I supposed to make back-up copies of games, play homebrews on CD systems, etc.?
