Darxide 32x - whats it worth?

Post by Curlypaul »

OK so I've tried the ovbvious, completed ebay searchs, VCPC, and Racketboys articles but I cant find anywhere that gives me an up to date value for this game.

The review at Sega-16 states that a cart only version will fetch $250, but this was a year ago. Are prices really that high?

I've seen them go on eBay last one a good 18 months ago went for around £60 if memory serves.

It's a rare game though, start it at 99p without a reserve bet you get 10 watchers inside an hour.

Yeah it seems to be, since neither the UK or US ebays can show me a single sale so I figured it must be pretty rare and possibly worth a bit.

There are a few threads here on the boards for members to show their 32x collection (or asking about it etc and then people post their pictures for bragging rights). Anyways, in those threads the value of Darxcide and a few others often comes up. There is one user who has made some big 32x purchases (spending over 1000usd on multiple occasions). If you find those threads, he'll gladly answer any questions on value and what the game has sold for.

It is well above the 60 pounds that someone mentioned...

Who on these boards has spent over $1000 USD on multiple 32X gaming purchases?! I have the complete collection of U.S. games, and only 2-3 games are worth more than $50. Unless the person buying those recently found prototypes has chimed in here, I can't recall or fathom anyone spending much dough on 32X stuff. I don't think those prototypes went for $1000+, but I can't recall.

As for Darxide, it doesn't come up often enough to accurately estimate value. Nothing between $100-$1000 would surprise me very much.

Do you mean Scooter? He had a thread while ago about tracking down the last few 32x games for his collection, but I dont think he was interested in the PAL releases at the time.

I guess its worth nearly £800 quid then. By the way the price is an odd number of pennies it looks like the top bidders were up to the top of their budget though.

Goddamn, thats a lot of cash for a game that by all accounts is a pile of crap.
